Confederate memorials are coming down!!!!

Alabama is tearing down confederate war memorials even though there is a state law prohibiting them from doing so. This is long overdue. The attorney general will sue the city....but so what. The memorial is gone.

Jefferson Davis, president of the Confederacy. Davis’ birthday is still celebrated as a state holiday in Alabama.

My issue has nothing at all to do with slavery. I argue this from the vantage point our 12 slave owning presidents argued it. That at that time it was legal.
 
In no rational world, would there ever be a statue put up in honor of Jefferson Davis.

We are not in a rational world, but we are in one where reason wins out from time to time.

We both know that the majority of those statues weren't dedicated to honor Confederates but to intimidate black people.

The fact that people get upset that a statue of Jefferson Davis is coming down is really telling though.
