You're assuming that "criminal perps" leave the house knowing they're going to commit a crime. There's no reason to assume that. If you're in favor of unlicensed carry for self-defense (clearly you are) then does it not follow that criminal perps have a right to self-defense too?

At least up until they commit a crime. And in practice, up until they're arrested for it which might never happen.

They may have increased pay, but when the overall budget is reduced by the city council that just means even fewer cops can be hired.

Anyone who is prohibited from owning a firearm is always prohibited from owning a firearm. There are no self defense exceptions for someone using a firearm to defend themselves if they cannot legally possess one. They may not be charged with murder, but they will likely be charged with illegal gun possession which can carry pretty stiff penalties. Seems odd that you’d be advocating for prohibited persons to be able to possess guns for self defense.

Actually, quick-draw competitions are fun! I've been in a few, and the best I could do and actually hit the target hovered around the 1.5 second mark (that was using a Black Powder Walker 6-gun in a quick-draw holster - the gun was too heavy to be much faster). The only way a Concealed Carry defense would work is if they were open-carrying instead.

The other issue is that unless a face shot, your opponent would not die instantly, and could still pump lead into you on their way to the floor. Sounds like a crap-shoot to me.
