Just how bad has the coal ash situation gotten in the United States? So bad that the Department of Homeland Security has told Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) that her committee can't publicly disclose the location of coal ash dumps across the country.
The pollution is so toxic, so dangerous, that an enemy of the United States -- or a storm or some other disrupting event -- could easily cause them to spill out and lay waste to any area nearby.
There are 44 sites deemed by the Environmental Protection Agency to be high hazard, but Boxer said she isn't allowed to talk about them other than to senators in the states affected. "There is a huge muzzle on me and my staff," she said.

Seems like now days (at least in America) the word terrorism = we do what we want our way.
In this case, just writ this off to being Barbara Boxer opening her fool mouth.
How is this her fault? Wait. I know better than to expect something rational.
Because Ms. Boxer is prone to... exaggeration.
And again, how is this her fault?
Removing Ms. Boxer from the issue and we still have terrorism being cited as a reason to not inform people of toxic materials that may be near their workplaces and residences.
Try not to get caught up in your hypocritical Democrat hating for a change and look at the subject.
The actual location of these waste piles can't be a secret, they are too large, and there are too many employees.
But it is a good idea to keep the topic out of the news as much as possible.
God forbid people find out how polluting coal really is at all stages. From mining to processing to burning to disposal of ash, it is a messy fuel.
But, if we want to have electricity, we have to accept the mess....for now.
I agree that they aren't secret, but it's far from public knowledge. I'd guess that public disclosure would be a modern Love Canal
When I worked in a Refinery if you where to be making plots of refinery areas and trading them with other companies or making them public you would be fired in a heart beat.
what do you mean by plots? what are plots?
I worked at a nuclear research facility and could draw most of the systems from memory. I would hope that the employees at a refinery could do the same. You can't safely operate what you don't know much about...
I'm NOT YOU FREAKING TROLL.
In a letter dated June 4, the Corps told the EPA and the Federal Emergency Management Agency that the federal government should not alert the public to the whereabouts of the sites....
"Uncontrolled or unrestricted release (of the information) may pose a security risk to projects or communities by increasing its attractiveness as a potential target," Steven L. Stockton, the Army Corps' director of civil works, wrote in a letter obtained by The Associated Press.
Huh. Let's see. dirtpoorchris, me, RightInNYC, UtahBill and Kernel Sanders all talking about the issue of keeping the locations secret.
And you are the only one blaming her.
Tell me, how are you not doing exactly what I said?
It's this kind of behavior that gets you labeled rightly as a hyperpartisan hack.
And Mr. V fails:

dirtpoorchris does seem to be on the money that terrorism = we can do whatever the hell we want.
I didn't blame her for anything.

I just don't trust ANYTHING B. Boxer has to say. You fail, as usual, to get the obvious.
Because Ms. Boxer is prone to... exaggeration.
I don't blame this on the Boxer.
Just even layouts of where all their vessels and pontoons and storage tanks our. Our any of their procedures. Anything that they own really. You need a permit to take pictures inside even.
OC, if you think I am BLAMING Boxer for this, you... really need to look into some medication. I didn't. I have dismissed her concerns because she is a worthless pile of lying crap.

But....can't good images be found on Google.Earth? Hmmmm? I can see my sailboat on those images, even my neighbor's little Boston Whaler, too.
Seroiusly, MrV, I think you're opening yourself up to a lawsuit, and there's lots of piles of crap out there willing to sign up with a lawyer, if the crap can handle the stench of him...
