CNN host Chris Cuomo was mocked Thursday after his attempt to disprove President Trump’s theory about how phones work backfired on live television.


David Holmes, the political counsel at the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine, testified during Thursday’s impeachment hearing that he overheard a would-be damning phone call between Trump and European Union Ambassador Gordon Sondland. Holmes said he “could hear the president’s voice through the earpiece of the phone,” which was not on speakerphone.

Trump, in real-time, tweeted his skepticism.
“I have been watching people making phone calls my entire life. My hearing is, and has been, great. Never have I been watching a person making a call, which was not on speakerphone, and been able to hear or understand a conversation. I’ve even tried, but to no avail,” Trump tweeted. “Try it live!”

So dumb**** ....uh Cuomo tries to call his mom on the air, and no one can hear her talk. :lamo :lamo Schifty hasn't been running his impeachment circus any better.

I have two cell phones, and my main phone isn't loud at all even on high volume. The other one is very loud. And again, I go back to the fact I've had conversations with people on a call I wasn't a part of. So yes, his phone failed but there are phones that have that ability where it's to easily hear. Several people in here have also experienced it.

Indeed, and most phones have a volume control for the listener. Put it on max and conversations can be clearly audible.

You are sure desperate for anything to use against your 'enemy'. There's a lot of 'whatabout-isms' that I could cite right here that show what soulless fools Hannity, Ingraham and Carlson are, but that would take up too much bandwidth from this site. But the moments caught on camera of Sean Hannity are of a far more seditious and downright evil nature. Like the numerous times he pushed the Seth Rich conspiracy that the DNC murdered him. It took a lawsuit brought by the family of Seth Rich to shut his lying mouth up. But it was Fox News that had to shut up Hannity, they retracted the story out of pressure from the family of Seth Rich, then Hannity lied about why he wouldn't be pushing this ugly story by saying he would stop discussing the story, “out of respect for the family’s wishes, for now.” Hannity has no respect for anyone, even a murdered man.

He made the statement on the air that Halloween only 'teaches kids to beg'. Apparently, children can’t even enjoy a harmless holiday like Halloween. At least not if Hannity has anything to say about it.

When Trump attacked a Muslim Gold Star family during the 2016 election, Hannity justified his buddy's actions and even asked Trump why the family was attacking him.

One of the worst things, and there's many, that Sean Hannity has said on air was back in 2014. Police arrested Minnesota Vikings player Adrian Peterson for beating his child, much to the horror of many people across the country. Not only did Hannity defend him, but he also took off his belt on air and began whacking it to demonstrate how he was hit as a child. He said,

"I got hit with a strap, bam, bam, bam, and I’ve never been to a shrink, by my father. I would tell you I deserved it. I think he went too far, but I don’t want to see this guy get a felony, I don’t want to see this guy lose his job, I don’t want to see this guy — he deserves parenting classes."

I can go on with the hateful, disgusting, horrible things said by Carlson and Ingraham as well, there's plenty of material online that illustrates that these people have no conscience, no sense of right or wrong and no reluctance on their parts to churn out conspiracy theories, lies and ways to instigate anger, rage and yes-- even retribution from people just like you and millions of their drooling 'fans'.

And you choose to mock Chris Cuomo for a phone call to his mother on air? You should be ashamed of yourself how petty, little and vengeful you are.

That's not the point. Fredo wasn't trying to prove Trump wrong. He was only trying to score a point against Trump and he failed...badly. He deserves all the mockery he is getting.
 
Interesting OP.
Watching the testimony of David Holmes he gestured that Sondland moved the phone away from his ear because Trump was loud.

Why would Sondland move the phone to his ear if he was wearing and using an ear bud? If he was using an ear bud, he would have no reason to raise the phone to his ear to hear.

My personal experience is if you are not using an ear bud and the volume is up on the phone a person can hear the caller. The phone does not need to be on speaker phone mode.
 
It was a funny moment when Cuomo tried to use an example and failed but it's hardly an indication you can never hear someone else's cell phone conversation.

Even me, sometimes I have people who are soft talkers and I have to turn my volume up only to get a loud talker to call next and have my eardrum blown away.

I agree his experiment failed, but it doesn't change the fact Trump tried to suggest Holmes could not have heard him. Myself and others know it's entirely possible.

I shake my head at the utterly incredulous comments made by some of our DP Right Wing Nuts! Dishing boundless stupidity void of humor makes for dull debate.

His example sucked worse than you think. He conducted it in a quiet studio. The real phone call happened on an outside balcony of a restaurant, where ambient noise from the street existed.
 
Is this the call where trump or trump administration officials made a government phone call on an unsecure phone?

I've heard people get screamed at over a phone in a crowded loud and and everybody nearby heard it - and laughed ruthlessly at the person who got berated.

It can happen, Cuomo just used a horrible example.

I'm sure you have. I'm sure you believe he heard the entire conversation, if it happened, as clear as a bell.
 
Didn't Sondland testify that he didn't say what Holmes said he said, and that he didn't hold the phone away from his ear?

Actually Holmes never said he heard the entire conversation. In fact he said the opposite.
