(CNBC) Jobless claims tumble to 218,000, well below estimate despite fears of labor market weakness

That is the irritant.

Inflation is relatively moderate, but it is inching back up - which is disconcerting.

But outside of the moderate core number, this month's higher 0.5% increase in food and 0.8% energy are starting to get problematic. That's hitting consumers where it hurts, and if you ask them - they'll tell you.
I'm so happy we put solar on our roof a few years ago. All of my appliances are natural gas, stove, water heater and dryer. My gas and electric are combined into one bill. I'm looking at my most current which needs paying. $110.23. My actual electric bill is a total of $62.27, $25 are charges the city puts on the bill, not actual electric usage. I live in flori-duh so my air runs for at least six months straight. My daytime is set at 72 and bedtime, 69.

...about the American economy going back decades. It's not an article about Biden. 😂 😂 😂

Over the past three decades America has left the rest of the rich world in the dust. In 1990 it accounted for about two-fifths of the gdp of the g7. Today it makes up half. Output per person is now about 30% higher than in western Europe and Canada, and 60% higher than in Japan—gaps that have roughly doubled since 1990. Mississippi may be America’s poorest state, but its hard-working residents earn, on average, more than Brits, Canadians or Germans.

Excellent find Taylor, if accurate.

and the tariffs..leftover morning coffee now sits in my drip carafe, and i add some water and drink it weaker the next day

Beef is what's really bothering me. Not just steak, which of courseI love, but over 6 bucks a pound for regular old hamburger at CostCo. Marone!

Hey, airplanes only last so long!
You haven’t been to a small flying school lately. They have some oldies, I soloed in a 1975 Cessna 172.

Government metrics are no longer trusthworthy, since trump's pudgy orange fingers have been tampering with them.

Yeah, my wife and I are in the market for a new airplane next year.

Well, times are tough. So I'm going to quit buying new every year. No idea how the kids are going to get by without our hand-me-downs! And my niece is really hurting for a set of wings to go off to college.

I'm well aware.

I simply couldn't resist cracking a joke!

I was going to hold off but my daughter spilled Sprite on the carpet and I'm frankly tired of looking at it.

I don't think any savvy business owners are going to believe Trump's book cookers.

If they do then they deserve their fate.

The daughter? Or, the Sprite?

The sprite, of course. The daughter has been told very firmly that this is coming off of her plane allowance, though.

Yes, inflation is moderate and the economy seems to be hanging in there.

The concern is we're recently experiencing regular monthly up-ticking in inflation, which is predicted from tariffs, and is seen as unnecessarily self-induced.

That's what's setting us on edge. Especially after the high inflation we've just suffered.
Actually, new numbers just came out today and inflation stayed at 2.7 from the previous reading.

Forget that anti-Trump rhetoric. The economy is chugging along just fine. The economy is robust and it can adapt to any changes it see necessary.
Sure it is. Remind me who the market is for cardboard shipping containers...
"Production in Q2 fell 5% year over year, and production for the first six months of the year decreased 3% compared with that time period in 2024. Production for export declined nearly 12% in 2025 so far, while domestic new supply declined 1.2%."

Actually, new numbers just came out today and inflation stayed at 2.7 from the previous reading.
And what is it that gives you faith in these new economic numbers?

Haha! Ground her! No plane for a week! That'll teach her!

Let's not be hasty. I can't have her commuting alongside the planeless! The in-flight water, however, will be sourced domestically.

Of sorts. 2.9% core.

But what effects individuals most was - +0.5% food & +0.8% energy. That hits right in one's pocket every day.

But yeah, it's an inching-up inflationary slope, not a runaway escalation. But, who needs or wants higher prices at all?

I don't think any savvy business owners are going to believe Trump's book cookers.

They likely have found more reliable numbers if they are smart.

Well, how about that? Unemployment claims down, GDP revised upward. Maybe the economy isn't doing as poorly as thought?

I do take issue with CNBC using the term "tumbles" though, in relation to lower unemployment claims. 218K, from the previous week's 232K, is not a particularly large drop. In fact, it's only 5%.

In addition the GDP number is a Trump Administration revision, so we must keep that in mind.

However if these numbers are accurate, the recent Fed rate cut might be looking a bit premature.
You have to realize "EVERYTHING YOU ASSUMED" was gaslighting BS that the Liberal Propagandist fed the masses so now when the TRUTH Comes out they have to PRETEND like: "oh wow no one would have guess...."
So they don't look like Lying Propagandist, and the SHEEP who've regurgitated the Propaganda don'
t look like stupid SHEEP....

Here watch the Propagandist try to pretend the FACTS are not as true as they Narratives!

LOL. Inflation may have gone up from 2.7 to 2.9 due to tariffs. Biden and the democrats had about 20% inflation over the course of four years, which averages out to 5% per year, far less than inflation is now.
Gotta love this MAGA math.
:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

According to some folks on the right they receive more benefits than poor americans.
But that's not true, is it?

So these numbers are awesome, yes?
