(CNBC) Education Department says Columbia University fails to meet accreditation standards

Trump is a NYC liberal. He wrote a book advocating for wealth taxes and universal healthcare. He also supports confiscating guns without due process.

I don't understand what you're asking here.
Trump is and always has been an opportunist. He was never a liberal. When democrats ran NY he was a democrat, when the Republicans did he was a republican. He has no allegiance to anything or anyone except his own pocketbook.

Trump is not acting like a NYC liberal as president. So you labeling him as one is meaningless. Why won’t you accuse Trump of being a leftist as president? Why do you hesitate to say it when it comes to Trump?

Because I consider "liberal" to be somewhat close to the center. Trump is obviously not a leftist.

He's not a liberal, and nowhere near close to the center.
In days past he could have been a fiscally conservative democrat (and was). The democrat party is being pulled way out to the left, so he wouldn't be now. Neither would JFK, MLK, Benson, Johnson, etc.

Baloney. Trump supported whatever party was in power to enhance his own business interests. Stop ascribing noble intentions to his political affiliations.

Teddy was a founder of the progressive movement.

Milton Friedman called Nixon the most socialist president we've ever had.
Whatever makes you feel better dude.

I don't disagree at all.

Ascribing noble intentions? Where did I do that? lol. There are many politicians that join a party because it suits their interests.

Trump has NEVER held the beliefs of a democrat, nor a republican.

There isn’t anything about being anti-Trump that requires crawling into bed with rabid anti-semites and the universities which harbor them.
Seeing as Trump is an anti semite, and these actions have nothing to do with anti semitism, you may want to work on that narrative a little more.

(CNBC) Education Department says Columbia University fails to meet accreditation standards

I'm not eager to add a third thread in one day, into the busy Breaking News Forum. But, I felt this news item was too important to pass over.

It appears the Trump Administration has found Columbia University does not meet accreditation standards, and has informed the relevant accreditation agency (Middle States Commission on Higher Education) of the violation.

This is huge. Accreditation is required to receive Pell Grants & Student Loans, and even determines whether degrees and transfer credits will be accepted by other academic institutions, professional societies, and in Industry.

I'm blown-away that the future of an academic institution is at the hands a government administrative determination.

If Government Gives It To You, Government Can Take It Away.

I had great hopes in the first Trump Administration that we would get a silver lining as the Left realized the dangers of overly-centralized and overly-powerful government. Those were dashed.

Columbia is an utterly unsympathetic victim. That administration deserves everything that happens to it.

But I suspect that the Left will be utterly non-introspective in response, and there will be no newfound appreciation for the dangers and proper limits of government. Instead, we will just get renewed vigor behind making sure the whips are in the hands of "our people", as we saw happen on the Right.

:(

So anyone stupid enough to comply with Trump after 35 years of seeing how Trump treats people that comply with him probably doesn't need to be accredited.

I would prefer that smarter people were running higher educational facilities.

By that logic, if you never would have gotten it in the first place - you at least temporarily gained! ;)

If your complaint is to government funded research and student loans/grants, it's all a matter of degree. We use government as our tool to act for us collectively, to provide what can only be done collectively. These are not a black or white matters, but a matters of degrees.
