(CNBC) Education Department says Columbia University fails to meet accreditation standards
--
The U.S. Education Department said Columbia University has failed to meet the standards for accreditation because it “is in violation of federal antidiscrimination laws.”
The Education Department’s Office of Civil Rights notified the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, an accrediting institution that Columbia belongs to, of the alleged violation.

I'm not eager to add a third thread in one day, into the busy Breaking News Forum. But, I felt this news item was too important to pass over.

It appears the Trump Administration has found Columbia University does not meet accreditation standards, and has informed the relevant accreditation agency (Middle States Commission on Higher Education) of the violation.

This is huge. Accreditation is required to receive Pell Grants & Student Loans, and even determines whether degrees and transfer credits will be accepted by other academic institutions, professional societies, and in Industry.

I'm blown-away that the future of an academic institution is at the hands a government administrative determination.

This is what happens when an institution capitulates to a tyrant. Give a tyrant and inch and they'll take a mile. This is what you did, Columbia.

I wonder what will have to happen - if anything can - to get 20-30 million into the streets all at once.

There have been many times in my personal life that I had a certain ominous feeling based on what I'd observed in another or others that X, Y, Z, were going to happen in exactly that order. They have never failed to.

The future my ominous feeling is spitting out now .... we really do not want that. That's the end of the promise of FDR's golden age, absent devastating cataclysm and rebuilt redemption.

What horse shit.

2 Dollar is destroying America.

Trump taking on an Ivy League college is like a mosquito attacking an elephant. Apparently Harvard was too tough a nut to crack so he switched targets. Is the department that pulled accreditation the same Department of Education the Trump administration is in the process of disbanding? That makes zero sense.

Columbia will survive just like Harvard survives and Trump will look like an idiot yet again.

There isn’t anything about being anti-Trump that requires crawling into bed with rabid anti-semites and the universities which harbor them.

There is nothing funnier than watching white American goyim try to play the "anti-Semitism" card.

I'm thinking the relevant accreditation agency may have a say, too.

Columbia and Harvard. The universities Obama went to.

This is nothing but a lie, a pretext in order to attack Universities because Republicans see them as columns of liberalism.

Anti-Semitism has NOTHING to do with any of this.

It's about attacking Free Speech and forcing universities to adhere to what Trump personally wants.

This shows the world the pointlessness of capitulating to Trump.
