Clinton popular vote disparity exceeds Gore in 2000

That would be the way. But you would NOT need every state to do that and the ones you listed would not be necessary.

13 states.

I could list the 13 states, but meh. yes those would be needed, as well as several others.

yes - that is correct. Which is why an Amendment would be the most decisive and cleanest way to go.

"Most"?

are you ignorant to how this constitution thing works. it would REQUIRE a constitutional amendment. there is no other way.

Actually there is an effort that some states have signed onto in which they pledge to cast their electoral votes to the winner of the popular vote. That is an alternative to an amendment process. But perhaps they are ignorant also.

good luck getting the smaller states to vote against their interests.

They don't have to as you do not need them.

you need 38 states to agree to an amendment or 34 states to agree to a constitutional convention

explain how you see your easiest path to victory

sure, the gerrymandered solution.

but explain your path to actually amending the constitution.

Unfair? You want a tissue?

Insulting me does not change the fundamental unfairness of a system where some voters have three times the weight and power behind their vote than others do. This is violation of the sacred principle of one person/one vote with no citizen having any more power than any other.

Repeating previous squashed talking points I see. The EC is sacred

Repeating previous squashed talking points I see. The EC is sacred

The math is what the math is and the math tells us that the EC is fundamentally unfair as it violates the one person/one vote principle awarding three times the power behind some votes as punishes people for exercising their freedom to live where they want to live.

The EC is a mechanism. There is nothing sacred about it. Just as Donald Trump and he will tell you so.

Donald Trump calls Electoral College "a disaster" in 2012 tweetstorm - CBS News

The electoral college is a disaster for a democracy.
DonaldTrump November 2012

Lets fight like hell and stop this great and disgusting injustice! The world is laughing at us.
Donald Trump November 2012

We can't let this happen. We should march on Washington and stop this travesty. Our nation is totally divided!
Donald Trump November 2012

Right from the horses mouth.

I was just pointing out that it amuses me you think the Founders designed the Electoral College to dictate where candidates do their media buys or so they would spend the bulk of their time in Florida, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.
Lighten up!

The mistake you make is assuming those founding fathers knew nothing of history and the predicaments of other nations past and present outside of the USA at that time.

this logical fallacy of your continued attempt to inject Trump's opinion is hiilarious. you must really respect Donald Trump's opinion. I don't. I would never use him as a debate ploy.

the EC is sacred. so sacred it will be impossible to eliminate. you seem to be repeating yourself, so I will just repeat how you lost the debate

the man is hosted on his own petard. The irony is simply delicious and far far far too good to pass up.

The EC is only a mechanism. It can be changed . To pretend otherwise is to dwell in willful delusion.

Right from the horses mouth.

The United States is NOT a Democracy......It is a REPUBLIC. This is apparently a revelation to many liberals.

If you are so utterly disgusted with a system that has obviously produced untold wealth and a great life compared to most of the world for the vast majority, you should seriously consider moving to a place that suits you better.

I'm not kidding. Leave.

The majority recognize a good thing and do not want to change it. And even though the silent majority has been a pushover thus far, there is a limit to tolerance.

yes it is and having the popular vote determine the winner of the Presidency does not change that fact - it is still a republican form of government.

Your screed makes no sense. Giving to the EC for 200 years of "untold wealth and a great life" is simply ridiculous and without any evidence or proof that such a statement is true.

Actually polls point out that the majority - by big numbers - favor scrapping the EC in favor of a straight popular vote.

Americans Would Swap Electoral College for Popular Vote | Gallup

PRINCETON, NJ -- Nearly 11 years after the 2000 presidential election brought the idiosyncrasies of the United States' Electoral College into full view, 62% of Americans say they would amend the U.S. Constitution to replace that system for electing presidents with a popular vote system. Barely a third, 35%, say they would keep the Electoral College.

It will be interesting to watch these poll numbers go up after this travesty putting Trump in the White House.
