Judith Curry insights
Australia’s rapid transition of electric power systems away from fossil fuels is introducing substantial new risks to their electric power systems. A transition of the electric power system that produces less reliable and more expensive electricity acts as a tourniquet that restricts the lifeblood of modern society.
Near-term targets for CO2 emissions, such as 75% renewable energy by 2035, drives the energy transition towards using existing technologies in ways that are counterproductive in the longer term. The perceived urgency of making such a colossal transformation can lead to poor decisions that not only harms the economy and overall human wellbeing, but also slows down progress on reducing carbon emissions.
Coming from an actual climate scientist who studies the risks of Human caused climate change for a living,
this approach makes a lot of sense.

The environazis view that as a huge benefit.

When the lights go out in Straya, the Aussies will soon find out just how stupid these climate change policies are.

When she was questioned about potential conflicts of interest, this was Curry’s response to Scientific American: [5]

“I do receive some funding from the fossil fuel industry. My company…does [short-term] hurricane forecasting…for an oil company, since 2007.

Sudden;y she's a credible scientist after all these years of "environazism".
Judith Curry has been a credible scientist for a long time.
She has been publishing on the topic of climate since the early 1980's.
She retired from being a professor to run a company that does risk assessments about the
climate and weather for businesses.

She was taking fossil fuels money since 2007

She sells risk assessments to anyone with green money, it is a business after all,
which businesses discriminate who their products get sold to?

So let's be clear. She didn't start this after retirement. She has been taking oil money since 2007

So what, most oil companies have research grant programs.
What would make you think the sponsored program office at any university would
allow a grant with strings attached?

Well you said she only did this after retirement. That's untrue. Her business was not related to her university position

What post number did I say that? I am not sure when she started the company, it may have been before she retired.
Because oil companies do issue grants, it is also possible she received a grant from one of the oil companies.
Do you think because someone receives a grant from an oil company, 100% of their work is tainted?
If so you should probably check who received STEM grants from Exxon over the years.

Here you say she retired to run the company. She ran it in 2007

Based upon her conflict of interest by taking money from them for 15 years
Do you understand that a person offering a service to a business, is under no obligation
to change their opinion. From the risk assessment perspective, the companies who purchase
her assessments would want them to be as accurate as possible.
Also people who receive grants from companies or governments, are only obligated
to report the findings as spelled out in the RFP (request for proposals).
This idea that you have that the source of the grant money somehow taints the research is a joke.
Universities go to great measures to ensure ongoing funding, and part of this is producing unbiased results.

Do you understand that if a person gets huge contracts from a interest group and then gives opinions in support of that interest group that is called a conflict of interest?

So what opinion did Judith Curry give that supported an oil company?
