Churches without Christian Nationalism (there is hope)

It is perfectly OK to continue learning….I, also, was once uninformed. People, for example, that cherry pick the scripture cite part of Psalm 82:6…..”I said, “You are gods” and it excites them….but God was not talking to us but, rather, was addressing his assembly of gods.
 
“A God exacting exclusive devotion.” “Even though there are those who are called ‘gods,’ whether in heaven or on earth, just as there are many ‘gods’ and many ‘lords,’ there is actually to us one God the Father.” (1Co 8:5, 6) Jehovah is the Almighty God, the only true God, and he rightfully exacts exclusive devotion. (Ex 20:5) His servants must keep others out of, or excluded from, his proper place in their hearts and actions. He requires his worshipers to worship him with spirit and truth. (Joh 4:24) They should stand in reverent awe of him alone.—Isa 8:13; Heb 12:28, 29.

Among other mighty ones called “gods” in the Bible is Jesus Christ, who is “the only-begotten god.” But he himself plainly said: “It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is to him alone you must render sacred service.” (Joh 1:18; Lu 4:8; De 10:20) The angels are “godlike ones,” but one of them stopped John from worshiping him, saying: “Be careful! Do not do that! . . . Worship God.” (Ps 8:5; Heb 2:7; Re 19:10) Mighty men among the Hebrews were called “gods” (Ps 82:1-7); but no man was purposed by God to receive worship. When Cornelius began to do obeisance to Peter, that apostle stopped him with the words, “Rise; I myself am also a man.” (Ac 10:25, 26) Certainly the false gods invented and fashioned by men down through the centuries since the rebellion in Eden are not to be worshiped. The Mosaic Law warns strongly against turning from Jehovah to them. (Ex 20:3-5) Jehovah the true God will not forever tolerate rivalry from false, worthless gods.—Jer 10:10, 11.

After Christ’s Millennial Reign, during which he brings to nothing all authority and power that is in opposition to God, he hands over the Kingdom to his God and Father, who will then become “all things to everyone.” (Ro 8:33; 1Co 15:23-28) Eventually, all those living will acknowledge God’s sovereignty and will praise his name continually.—Ps 150; Php 2:9-11; Re 21:22-27

Wrong…..there are other true gods….to be correct one can legitimately say there is one Supreme God…..otherwise you must contradict Psalm 82…..are you prepared to say that is not true ?
 
If it helps think of the difference between disciples and apostles…..we can all be disciples….followers…students of Jesus….but apostles are disciples that have been given authority by Jesus to speak and act in His name….I cringe when churches label anyone as an apostle….the right to exercise authority can only come from God not from a church….the modern church is filled with Pharisees who are condemned by Jesus….

Hebrews 12:9…..”Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence….” It is an act of charity to correct others. Unfortunately it is always the ego that will reject that. In my better moments I seek only to inform and/or help….the same as any good teacher would do. It never hurts to say “ I learned something today”……btw that was KJV….
 
If one wants truth let the Scripture to speak for itself…..I like that…..thanks Daisy…..

Jesus quoted Psalms thus clarifying who the gods were...they were the Hebrews who gave the laws of God to the people...

"Jesus answered them: “Is it not written in your Law, ‘I said: “You are gods”’? If he called ‘gods’+ those against* whom the word of God came—and yet the scripture cannot be nullified—" John 10:34,35

gods: Or “godlike ones.” Jesus here quotes from Ps 82:6, where the Hebrew word ʼelo·himʹ (gods) is used of men, human judges in Israel. They were “gods” in their capacity as representatives of and spokesmen for God. Similarly, Moses was told that he was to “serve as God” to Aaron and to Pharaoh.—Ex 4:16, ftn; 7:1, ftn.
 
Daisy…..sorry….you cannot truthfully say ‘godlike ones’ they were gods. Why else would Psalm 82:7 say this: “But you will die like mere men”….? I.e. before they were gods…but their casting out changes them into mere men. This same thing is demonstrated by the creation story…… “Let US make man in our image”……”us” is plural(multiple gods)…..only gods could be in the Garden of Eden….then Adam and Eve were kicked out to live and die like ‘mere men’.

Because even though they're being called gods, they are simply mortal men who will die...

Yes, the "we" is Jehovah God and Jesus Christ...he was Jehovah's 1st creation so he was there when Adam and Eve were created...

He rescued us from the authority of the darkness+ and transferred us into the kingdom of his beloved Son, by means of whom we have our release by ransom, the forgiveness of our sins.+He is the image of the invisible God,+ the firstborn of all creation;+ because by means of him all other things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible,+ whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All other things have been created through him+ and for him. Also, he is before all other things,+ and by means of him all other things were made to exist." Colossians 1:13-17
 
Back to the problem and hypocrisy of Christin Nationalism: Many military schools have the following words displayed in a prominent place: “I will not lie, cheat or steal nor tolerate those who do.” How many churches would be willing to post that ? It might be a direct confrontation to their conscience and certainly a painful reminder……

Yes, discussing…..the problem is the arena. Whatever we are hearing here….if instead we read it in a book we might contemplate it and chew on it for while. The immediacy of this format can morph into a clash of egos and appear or result in confrontation. Would be much better if we approached this a think tank….a search for truth….
 
A random thought….”for God so loved the WORLD”….now I believe in one supreme and creator God…..and must believe that God created Chinese, Buddhists, Muslims, Christians, Jews, gentiles, Baptists, male, female etc. Christians can try to appropriate God and believe that He is unique to them. And, btw, if one can accept that God is the creator He could also create other gods if it was his will. To believe that any of the aforementioned were not created by the creator God would indicate that one believes in multiple creator gods. A Catch 22…? Nationalism seems to be the assumption that one lives in the one true and legitimate nation that is superior to all others and gives permit to judge others inferior or less. IMO that is sinful and a denial of the creator God…..
 
Back to Psalm 82…..just what did God judge the ‘gods’ for ? It was because they lacked mercy for the downtrodden. The characteristic that was utmost to God. It helps rid me of any impulse to speak of a wrathful God…..punishment and revenge can be the province of others…..”the greatest of these is love”…….

I think, from a Christian stand-point ......the problem with the USA started, when they did not vet people coming in to the USA with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Anyone who refused the Pledge of Allegiance shouldn't have been allowed in.
It should've been a qualifier.

How can you even think to let in someone who doesn't want to pledge their allegiance to the USA........................I can't fathom that!



Now.........................we have so many idols - and priests/priestesses - in high places.
Baal is being served again.

And, the people of GOD, are being led astray.

Pledge of Allegiance ? This is laughable…..guess you have never been to a citizenship ceremony ? They all do this. I agree to sit in the back of the bus because I am black ? Even though we are all created equal I will not drink from a white boy’s fountain ? I cannot protest a war even if I have freedom of speech ? If there is no nationwide law….like abortion…..am I guilty of breaking my pledge if I do not comply ? Or should there also be pledges for individual states ? I surrender my freedom to read a book because I live in some backward state ?
 
The Christian Nationalists are working to take away freedom of/from religion. They are already imposing the 10 Commandments it will morph into forcing children into saying the Lord’s Prayer and listening to hillbilly’s prayer about killing someone because of their political beliefs. It is like a rush to ignorance……
