Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has pushed back against Republican claims that Washington, D.C., has become too dangerous to walk its streets, describing his regular early-morning strolls as “perfectly safe.”
His comments come as President Donald Trump has declared a crime emergency in the city and deployed the National Guard to assist with law enforcement.
In an interview with “The Parnas Perspective,” Schumer detailed his routine walks around the Capitol and nearby monuments at sunrise. He criticized Republican lawmakers who have called for a federal takeover of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) and supported Trump’s intervention.
“I feel perfectly safe. They’re full of it,” Schumer stated. He suggested that Trump’s focus on D.C. crime is a political strategy to divert attention from other issues, specifically referencing the ongoing investigation into Jeffrey Epstein.
Comment:
Washington D.C. recorded a homicide rate of 27.54 per 100,000 residents in 2024.
Seth Rich would tell Chuck Schumer that he is wrong about Washington DC streets being " perfectly safe " if he was still alive.
BTW, Chuck Schumer should give all of the donations that he got from his buddy Jeffrey Epstein to his rape victims.
