Chinese Pianist Plays Propaganda Tune at White House
US humiliated in eyes of Chinese by song used to inspire anti-Americanism

Lang Lang the pianist says he chose it. Chairman Hu Jintao recognized it as soon as he heard it. Patriotic Chinese Internet users were delighted as soon as they saw the videos online. Early morning TV viewers in China knew it would be played an hour or two beforehand. Chinese piano player slips propaganda in - NYPOST.com
It's a patriotic Chinese song, about a specific battel in Korea. How is it propaganda?
/facepalm
I don't think the chinese take Obama seriously...... :doh
Lang Lang began tapping out a famous anti-American propaganda melody from the Korean War: the theme song to the movie "Battle on Shangganling Mountain."
Read that line again.......
That line is the Epoch new's staff spin on it. So what?
It's a song from a movie.
Are you some sort of china apologist?
it was a propaganda film, an anti-US propaganda film.
The Chinese pianist Lang Lang performed a widely-known anti-American propaganda song during his performance at the White House's state dinner for Chinese President Hu Jintao last week, the Chinese-American newspaper Epoch Times reports.
The song, "My Motherland," is the theme to film "Battle on Shangganling Mountain," about a communist "People's Volunteer Army" defeating U.S. military "jackals" in a Korean War battle.
You two need to stop embarrassing yourselves in ignorance....
Pianist Thumbed Nose at White House with Propaganda Song - World Watch - CBS News
Seriously.... :lamo
You need to stop embarrassing yourself with making a big deal over a song.
Edit: Seriously... :lmao:
Poor choice of a song given the context.
"I thought to play 'My Motherland' because I think playing the tune at the White House banquet can help us, as Chinese people, feel extremely proud of ourselves and express our feelings through the song. I think it's especially good. Also, I like the tune in and of itself, every time I hear it I feel extremely moved," Lang Lang said in the interview.
I think people are relying too much on the editorial spin in the few sources quoted in the OP.
Dixieland has negative connotations. But when the Boston Pops performs it on the 4th of July do we think they're playing Confederate propaganda?
Great film scores can transcend their original intent and become favorites for performers.

"The movie and the tune are widely known among Chinese, and the song has been a leading piece of anti-American propaganda by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for decades," the Epoch Times reports." CCP propaganda has always referred to the Korean War as the 'movement to resist America and help [North] Korea.' The message of the propaganda is that the United States is an enemy--in fighting in the Korean War the United States' real goal was said to be to invade and conquer China. The victory at Triangle Hill was promoted as a victory over imperialists."

Very clever of the pianist. Slip the knives in when we aren't looking. Make us look the fools.
But what was President Obama supposed to do about it? What did you expect? There's no reason to expect the President to be familiar with Chinese propaganda; if he was, that'd just be another reason for you to call him a Socialist. And even if he'd recognized the piece, there would have been no graceful way to stop the pianist; any reaction at all would have been graceless and classless and would have shown our country in an even poorer light.
Sometimes you have to let the little people take their shots and satisfy yourself with being the better man.

So somebody should be fired because they DIDN'T shoot the piano player?
