Child taken from womb by social services

I was commenting on the notion that anyone for any reason can make a claim that you are a bad parent and the DHS will swoop in a take your kids away without any evidence or proof. That happens in the movies yes, but not really in real life. Granted there are stories where people have lost their children for a period of time during investigations of abuse etc... However this poster was making it seem as though this was the norm, not the exception.

Tim-

Fair enough. I certainly don't believe that such abuses are very common at all, certainly not in the UK or Spain. I couldn't really comment on the US.

Oh please.. Seriously you watch too many movies.

Tim-

Seriously, no I don't......Just go on the internet and look up such websites as "Fight CPS", "Kidjacked" and the many blogs devoted to this subject and you will find the truth about child protective services in this country...

You should do some investigating before being so quick in your judgement....

I still remember the UK case of conjoined twins. Doctors said unless separated they both would only live a few years, but if they were surgical separated, one could have a full life span, though the other killed in the process. The mother said no, let them both live as long as they do. But a UK court ruled to kill one of the children to give the other a full lifespan.

A lot of things about the UK really sucks. It seems Americans don't understand what the America Revolutionary war was about really.

Yes, I do anyway.

Did they also anally probe her for 14 hours?

This doesn't require a national health care system. It just requires a government powerful enough to pull rank over other entities. We have that right here in America, and have for a long time.

I'm having an out-of-body experience just letting it sink in that this really happened. I can't even formulate a reaction. What in the hell is happening to the world?

They tranqued her like a wildebeest and cut her child out of her. I'm literally struck dumb that this has actually occurred. But really, terrible stuff has been going on for a while in both Britain and the US. Stuff that was inconceivable just 30 years ago.

Why are people still not doing anything? Why is it still silent in all the places it really counts?

Yep, that's in the story. Apparently the court denied the father's sister custody because she's not a "blood relative."

Yes and right after that it mentioned that the child is to be adopted by strangers. Its all messed up.

The reason people aren't doing anything is because they have become accustomed to government being the answer to their needs and desires. What are they going to do, bite the hand that feeds them? If there was ever a textbook example of why I am opposed to ceding more and more responsibility to a central government this is it.

By no means am I defending the actions of the UK 'system' but could they have been doing this so that they could properly medicate or otherwise treat the woman and not harm the baby?

That wouldn't explain why they're trying to give the child to a British couple.

The thread got ridiculous and I didnt bother to carry it any further.

I am familiar with that case. The twins were only a couple of weeks old and the Medical experts were saying that unless the girls were separated, both would die within a few months. The Parents are very religious and opposed to the killing of one child for another and preferred to let nature take it course and let both die. They felt that it was gods will.

Terrible situation to be faced with to begin with.

That is happening here as well. Thanks to ASFA--Adoption and Safe Family Act of 1997, huge financial gains are afforded to those CPS/DHS Agencies who quickly get children adopted out of foster homes...Estimates are $4,000 --$6,000 per adoption....They do not follow their own protocol of reunification of families as there is no financial gain.

You are quite mistaken...It is not the federal government that is responsible, but state governments.....

The difference is that it's easier to get changes at the state level than the federal level. You also have the option of moving to a different state if yours is screwed but moving to a different country is more difficult.

Unfortunately, the problems with CPS are nationwide, but at the state level...

As a dude.... If that happened to my wife and unborn child.... Just imagine the movie Braveheart.

Can we vote in congress to invade Britian with American Army? Is that an option?

I bet there is more to this story. I have not looked it up yet...but could she take her bipolar meds while pregnant? Was she suicidal or attempting to harm herself or others or the baby? I bet there is a bit more to this story.

I don't care if she is bat**** crazy...

Cutting a woman open and stealing her child defines crazy.

Of course these "liberals" are always talking about "reproductive rights" until they steal babies out the womb like some unprecedented freak show out of 1984.

Obviously you didn't read the thread. I have seen a guys leg amputated without permission. Ohhh the outrage, the mindless outrage.

They didn't operate to take the child. It's unique in my experience of mental health services that a foetus be deemed so at risk from it's mother that caesarian section becomes an option. Once that decidion is taken and carried through, the child becomes an independent legal entity with rights of it's own, and with a parent so dangerous to it that premature birth was needed for it's safety, then it follows that adoption was the only rational course.

Your mental health services went too far.

Pfeh. That would only hasten our own government's progress toward being more like theirs. No thanks.
