Chicago doesn't get 2016 Olympics

attending a decathalon is a lot different than going to copenhagen to make a bid to host the games, knowing less about the ioc than peteeu, then getting slammed down humiliatingly in front of the entire world

hello

I'm absolutely CERTAIN that you said the same thing about GWB when he attended the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics, right?

Oh...that's right. Thought so.:doh

I was hoping GWB wouldn't go. It was disappointing.

Sorry....but if it had been GWB...I would still have been rooting for America to win. That's the difference.

You are deliberately misunderstanding my post. I do not have time.

Ever heard the phrase 'comparing apples and oranges? :doh

Prez Doofus has been running around all over the world telling them how terrible the USA is.... and now he thinks they should bestow the honor of hosting the Olympics on the USA. He is unbelievably stupid for putting the Presidency on the line and thinking he could charm them into it without having already had a deal locked up.

.

Chicago's loss of the 2016 games was absolutely nothing that could have been 'changed' by Obama.

Chicago lost in part because their Olympic committee was unwilling to share the money which would have come in with TV rights etc.

It also lost because, believe it or not folks, it was the time that South America had the chance to stage the games.

What seems to have been forgotten by all those commentating on Chicago's loss is that the Olympic Games are a Worldwide event.
They are not the USA Games, they are not the EU games, they are not the Russian Games, they are not the African Games, nor are they the Asian Games.

They are Worlwide games and to achieve this end it is only just that the Venues where they are held should also be on a Worldwide Basis.

PBO can't do anything right, can he? He would screw up a monkey **** fight at the zoo. :rofl

It's Bush's fault...:rof

How do they determine the committee make up exactly

Dr. Disney,

Wrong and wronger.

Two very different scenarios. One was attending the opening.
The other?
Obama spending political capital believing his "star power" would be enough to win the vote.
WHOOPS!

I guess we know his strategy with the Iranians.
He is making the same fundamental errors Carter made.
Past Papers - Herb Cohen on Negotiating and Selling

PS.I didn't write anything about Bush and Beijing. Go check.
Try, try again.

.

Keep in mind. Clinton's first shots across his bow.......came from the Gov races in Virginia and New Jersey in 1993. It was the first sign of trouble for Bill before the Democratic Party catastrophe of the 1994 elections.

Fix a sharp eye on the next month Gov elections from Virginia and New Jersey both swing states that voted for Obama. I think many of these debates will be resolved.

Course, it'll be Bush's fault either way.

Exactly what I thought. You were "surprisingly" quiet.

Sorry...but they are not different things. You are complaining that Obama had much on his plate at home that flying over for a few hours was something that he shouldn't have done.

Somehow you thought that Bush didn't have too much on his plate to spend a few days in China.
:doh:doh:doh

Yea funny how the righties "forget" how their dear leader acted during his 8 years.

Lets recap..

487 days at Camp David..

490 days at his ranch in Texas.

Total days away from the White House at these 2 locations ALONE is 977 days.. that is about 1/3 of his total presidency. To this you add additional travelling to other countries, political rallies and fund raisers and "photo ops"..

And the right is all up in arms over a few hours in Europe... gezzz.

These nutjobs and their followers are so desperate that they would rather have America fail than have Obama succeed. That is really sad.
You and F105 got sources for any of this drivel?

I'm still reading, so I'll come across your sources soon right?

Obviously you aren't capable of reading the posts without your blinders on. If you can't see it....me pointing it out to you isn't going to help.

Well of course Spain should have gotten it, it was just those stupid rules that got in the way, it was obvious.

Uhhuh....no doubt.

On paper yes they had the best bid. It cost the least, had the most venues already in place and by far the best transportation system of the 4. Also it had the needed hotel rooms.. something Rio does not. But as I stated, that is hardly what the IOC goes for. If it was, then Greece should never had the Olympics, nor Rio.

And for the record, I was rooting for Rio so I am happy it is there.

I actually agree with this because the Olympics have been in the US several times during my lifetime. Also, looking at past Olympic game info, they have been held in the US 8 times since they were restarted in the late 19th century. The next country to have hosted the Olympics the most is France, 5 times. I think it's a good idea to let countries that have never hosted the Olympics do so because it might improve relations with those countries.

LOL... "surprisingly quiet"?
It simply didn't interest me.
There was an election campaign underway.
I had a lot of work.

The difference is... China had the Olympics. Had... it was the Opening Ceremony.
Bush was in the dying days of his presidency.

Obama went at the height of his dwindling powers... LOL.
He went and spouted another personal saga... along with First Wifey.
The Obama gambled political capital very publicly and lost... badly.
As badly as one could.

Capiche?
Or is there no difference in those scenarios?
LOL.
.

The only difference is that you saw one as an opportunity to try to bash Obama...the other you conviently rationalize because it contradicts with your selective outrage.
Its hilarious watching you guys try to speak out of both sides of your mouth. Your not very good at it.

Obama also previously stated, he had no time to go to copenhagen due to afghanistan and the economy, and healthcare.

What changed that he had to jet off to fail?
