I've had this on in the background here and there for the past two days and I think Chauvin is screwed. While I certainly haven't listened to every interview and have only listened to parts of the interviews I have been able to hear I'm not hearing a lot of people that are expressing any skepticism about the charges at all. Most of what I've heard revolves around "I have issues with cops" and "I have a negative opinion of Chauvin". If that's the jury pool then good luck Chuck!

Both the prosecution and the defense have ample preemptory challenges. Both sides would be satisfied with "I will judge this case on its own merits."

I have not heard what you claim to be hearing (from the 4 jurors selected the last I heard).

This judge (since 2007) worked for Hennepin County DA Amy Klobuchar and has a reputation for maintaining courtroom décor and not allowing trials to be ruined via process mistakes.

I've been live posting about it since it started.

I believe that both prosecution and defense get 15 "strikes". After that they get what they get.

Like I said, I haven't heard every potential juror but the ones I have heard, so far, have expressed quite negative opinions about cops in general and Chauvin in particular. Among other things, it speaks volumes to what the media portrayal has done to color public opinion.

What feed are you using? I was listening to the USA Today feed earlier and they started running the Psaki press conference audio right on top of the courtroom audio.

I've only heard three potential jurors (two white males and one mixed race female}. One male and the female showed favorability toward cops and the other male said he didn't see the video but did see some photos of Floyd.

They found a guy who hasnt seen the video?!? Im not sure Id want a guy that out of touch with the world siting on my jury.

There is no reason to blame the media when people had the opportunity to watch Chauvin murder Floyd recorded on tape

I switch between the local fox and CBS affiliates.

It doesn't seem that far fetched considering how uninformed 2/3 of the country is.

That video was everywhere for weeks. I dont know how a person could have missed it.

My cliff notes so far.

First juror: White male chemist that prefers Black Lives Matter over Blue Lives Matter

Second Juror: Unknown race female with diabetes who was very exited to serve as a juror on this case

Third Juror: Unknown race male with somewhat negative opinion of Chauvin but positive image of police in general

Fourth Juror: College educated soon to be married white male, supports BLM but appreciates the work police do

Fifth Juror: Black male immigrant, that has lived in Minnesota for 14 years and works in tech support, police in his neighborhood makes him feel safe

I think the female juror is black, but it wasn't addressed in questioning and this is just from what I've heard. They're still questioning potential juror 30, but he's going to be dismissed by the defense soon I think.

Maybe he wasn't that interested....or maybe he just didn't want to see Floyd die. I can think of a ton of reasons why someone didn't watch the video.

Defense excused the BLM supporter.

I guess. Maybe someone that detached will hang the entire jury

I think both sides were prefer an "impartial' jury.

No, what “colored public opinion” is the fact that numerous cops appear to be nothing more than thugs with badges who see themselves as judge, jury, and (especially) executioner....and a hell of a lot see nothing wrong with covering from them.

People are fed up with officers who see any form of being held accountable as a threat.

IMO, it will all boil down to the autopsy report and the testimony of the medical examiner and forensic pathologist. Since he had both meth and fentanyl in his system, as well as being positive for Covid, I can see Chauvin being found not guilty or a hung jury. Unless, of course, the prosecutors can prove that the knee on the neck was the cause of death and not the drugs and then it should be a unanimous guilty verdict.

If it was the knee and they can prove it, I agree. Don't see how they can, between the knee on the neck, knee on the back, the drugs, or the physical exertion with his general poor health. When GF injested the fentanyl will also be important.

Looks like the judge is making sure the jury gets him on something...
A judge in the trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin granted prosecutors' request to add a third-degree murder charge Thursday, giving the jury more options as it considers Chauvin's culpability in the death of George Floyd.

One never knows for sure what a jury will do but even the elements of 3rd Degree murder would be hard to prove.

He didn't really have a choice. He followed the appeals decision and the law. Anyway, things are moving along. 6 jurors, going back to it in just a couple minutes.

You're right. He's following the MN. supreme court's decision to not accept Chauvin's attorney's appeal.

Chauvin is clearly innocent of all three charges. If all the evidence can be presented, all the evidence, then there's no reasonable way that Chauvin could be rightly convicted.

But, in the "cancel culture" wokie-controlled court of public opinion, Chauvin was guilty from the moment BLM rioted and killed in many of America's cities.

Nevertheless, here we are, facing the biggest trial in modern American history. Will justice prevail .. or will Chauvin be lynched in order to prevent the BLM bullies from leveling Minneapolis?

Tucker Carlson presents the truth: Everything the media didn't tell you about the death of George Floyd .

As Carlson says at the end, Floyd was complaining about not being able to breathe, as he resisted arrest, long before the officers complied with Floyd's demand to be taken out of the police car and placed on the ground.

The truth here is obvious: Floyd died of a combination of his previous ill health issues coupled with his massive drug overdoses, not because of anything to do with the safe, standard police procedure Chauvin and his fellow officers executed, no matter how that procedure appeared in a video.

We're about to see whether America is still a justice-for-all country .. or if the BLM dumb bunny mobsters have completely taken over by issuing intimidating bully threats of violence and murder against anyone who is even remotely connected with the potential acquittal of Derek Chauvin.

Oh please. This shit has been going on for 30 years. We were shocked over the treatment of Rodney King and we're still shocked today.
BLM is right to demand an end to this.
Police captains know their bad apples. It's time for them to step up and quit acting as if they are the Catholic Church
