Missouri has one of the most hard-right governance in the nation. Both the Missouri Senate and the House have Republican super-majority and the governor is a right-wing Republican. As a result, they often pass some of the most far right reactionary laws imagineable. But there's only one problem: that not far enough to the right for a fewfar far right Repubs in the Missouri Senate known as the "Freedom Caucus". The Missouri Senate convened soon after the New Year, but has been unable to get any real work done because they have filibustered to get their way first. Anyway, it has now come to a head:

the “Freedom” Caucus in the Missouri Senate has been holding up the Republican governor’s appointments, so today the Republican leader in the Senate stripped them of their committee chairman ship. "

( But that is not all. He has also deprived them of a parking space in the Senate parking garage, and drastically cut their office budget.)

The Republican leader of the Missouri Senate:

“A chamber designed to be occupied with civil, principled statesmen and women has been overtaken by a small group of swamp creatures who, all too often, remind me more of my children than my colleagues.”
The assistant leader

“They have used the floor of the Senate for their own personal interest, make political speeches and obstructed the process in which legislation and issues are debated and passed.”

Far right Republican nutcases operate on the state level, too.

Pity that there isn't someone with a big enough pair to sort out the crazy magas in the federal level House as well.

Actually, all that this means is that they will still pass far right bills one after another, just perhaps not far far right bills. It's not a great deal of help, but at least it's fun to watch.

The reason that the far right in the Missouri Senate are pulling this stunt: abortion. They are far right abortion extremists who are afraid that THE PEOPLE might get an opportunity to vote directly on this issue through referendum, and they are doing all that they can to try to avoid that, including disrupting the Missouri Senate proceedings until they get their way.
