(CBS) Trump tariff plans bring concern about prices, financial impact, but GOP base sees jobs long-term — CBS News poll

im not even concerned until we see any results of tariffs. i get the American angst -the doom and gloom and the markets.
But really nothing much has happened.

Huh? SNAFU is a choice. Do nothing. Follow the LW's march to a totalitarian regime.

The other choice is continuing SNAFU.

"Do nothing" is perfectly fine. Or maybe, "do a little".

There was nothing wrong with the economy as it was, pre-tariff crash. Well, besides lack of taxation and lack of constraint applied to the wealthy & their corporations. But that is an internal problem, not an international nor tariff problem.

Lest you further use "LW Regime" as a strawman argument, as if I were presenting a fringe minority point-of-view, I direct you to today's data from my OP poll:

So in your world wars are more acceptable than cooperation? What countries, trump has all but backed down on his tariffs.

And what concessions did the "deal artist" extract from backing down on China et al?

I haven't heard a peep from China since Trump caved.

You're fellow Americans apparently are not quite as sanguine. I say this without animus.

of course not. did i mention the doom and gloom being piled into their heads by the press?
Then add in the volatility. but as I said i'm going to wait before i jump off a cliff for some results.

Bulls, you are witnessing the destruction of the US govt from the inside now, after his attempt at destruction from the outside with his insurrection the last time he was in.
The other choice is continuing SNAFU.
This is not normal, but it is ****ed up, you are gaslighting on the level of chaos.

Not surprising given the unrelenting shit tsunami the MSM is blowing on every outlet.
Or you know tariffs are ****ing stupid and cost us more in the end overall. .

But hey let's throw 50 years of you guys arguing free markets in the shitter for trolling libs

From that map, we have:

Australia
Pursuing tariff exemption with U.S.
Japan
Pursuing tariff exemption with U.S.
United Kingdom
Pursuing U.S.-U.K. trade deal

Did I miss any?
Why would anybody seek a 'deal' with Trump?
Americas word isn't worth a pinch of coon shit. Everyone in the world knows that.

I don't think they removed their tariffs on America.

My question was rhetorical.

And 'no', China haven't budged.

China matched Trump penny-for-penny, within hours, of every hike Trump did. Now that Trump capitulated, they remain silent - unmoving.

Given that, my sense is that the lead has shifted (to China).

We'll see what China does now, if anything?

Remember, Trump removed much of the U.S. import tariffs against China, but China still can put in-kind Chinese export tariffs against us in their place!

I don't expect export tariffs to happen, but if China sees this mess as an embargo (apparently they did), they can simply say - "fug it!"

I would say a 20% drop in the financial markets, our trading partners (former trading partners?) relieving themselves of our debt instruments & our USD's, leading to Trump capitulating, was a pretty good hint that he screwed-up - don't you think?

I have never seen anything like this. No POTUS in my lifetime has come into office and wreaked this level of chaos, and the idea that media is covering all that is happening is way off the mark. The level of disruption in the Executive branch, where he has put people in place that have no govt experience and are taking apart long standing structures/system is going on behind the curtain, we are getting little snippets from those that have gone around their NDA's.
Then add in the volatility.
The entire world financial markets have gone through a massive whiplash, and we are just at the beginning of that working its way through the economies. We haven't seen anything yet. This is on top of ("piled") the chaos in govt.

But why wouldn't MAGA's try to diminish it, just like the insurrection....or COVID....or the impeachments.

Unlike anything in my lifetime.

This is the first major poll I'm aware that includes most of the recent tariff events (thru 11 APR), as well as focuses on the tariffs.

Consequently, I believe there's a lot of up-to-the-minute data to be mined.

My take-aways:

1] Americans do not do not want the tariffs
2] Americans believe the economy is getting worse
3] Americans hold Trump responsible for the economy
4] Republican respondents' thoughts run counter to the above
The MSM has to Scream the Sky is Falling as soon as possible because this is the only way to make the masses hate Trump for what he's doing for America !

Trump is simply STANDING UP FOR AMERICA to even out Tariffs that are VERY Lopsided !
This will help America in the long run, we will be able to sell more, have more jobs, and keep more US $'s in the US !

Let's explain what Trump's doing in another way so the left can better understand:
Imagine if a Couple were in a bad relationship and the Good person who contributed the most and made all the sacrifices, one day
stood up to their partner and said : I am going to Act half as F'up to you as you do to me, and if you want me to stop you will
have to Stop being abuse/toxic, and if you don't change I will end this relationship!.....

Would you think that the good person who stood up for themself is bad because they caused some chaos (from the Status Quo)?

Stellantis laid off 900 people the first day. Do you think this is an isolated incident?

Who's "you guys"? Do you grasp that 75+ countries are already getting in link to negotiate? But what do they know, right?

Take a look at the polling data. Americans, rather strongly it seems, do not agree with you.

It helps that it's a bad policy
And doing nothing was better? Those 75 countries don't know as much as you about their economies and inter country relations.

The bolded is fair to say. There's never been anything close to this.

Even the Civil War was an attempt at secession, not a coup.

LOL, just noticed your using a poll from the prime member of the LW leadership.

As opposed to the other choices it's acceptable. By the numbers of countries joining or on the verge of joining his cause - it ain't much of a war anyway.
What the **** are you saying?
He was forced into this?

And doing nothing was better? Those 75 countries don't know as much as you about their economies and inter country relations.

Than this? 'Yes', "doing nothing" was better.

But even better yet, might have been to pick-up the phone and quietly & unobtrusively make some deals where improvement may thought to be needed?

This guy is billed by MAGA as some kind of master negotiator. Then, why the hey can't he negotiate?
