Obviously, the suggestion here is that the fines this company had receieved for safety violations didn't get them shut down because of their campaign contributions.

Their number of citations were normal though, and if you go by CBS's logic here, all but a small fraction of reporters, anchors, news directors, and producers who give campaign contributions give to Democrats, so anything they say must give undue favor to Democrats right?

Better yet, most journalists we see every night use to work as partisan Democrat operatives before being trusted to disseminate legitimate news...but there's no conflict of interest in THAT right?

So, are you saying that the facts presented in the article are false or that reporting the politics of the mine's owner is an example of the "liberal media" rearing it's ugly head again?

I don't dispute the facts. But it doesn't strike you as a bit odd for CBS to veer off course entirely and introduce campaign contributions into a story about a mine collapse?

Hardly if the laws on mining and mining safety in the area were then changed by the people that got those contributions...not exactly the first time such a link in various industries can "easily" be made.

It's odd since there is no evidence of a connection between the campaign contrabutions and the lack of enforcement of the citations. Seems like a 'HMMMMM' article to me. Maybe it'll start an investigation.

One important thing missing: Evidence. CBS is pushing a left-wing conspiracy theory.

If a politician just being connected to someone means that person or that politician must be slanting things in favor of who their connected to, then the entire newsmedia has been proven to be overtly slanted for liberals, by that logic.

And what does this liberal media get in return from the politicians? Nobody does anything without getting something in return. Here's some tinfoil, make a hat.

One has wondered that too(I'm starting to sound like the robot from Bicentennial man). What exactly does this liberal media get? The media IS a business after all. There are profits and people who want to get rich of it. What exactly does the media get from making it look like some politicians have screwed up and others haven't? News interviews? They'd get those anyways.

Unless you are a geologist, or engineer with specialties relating to mine safety, how can you claim that the number of alledged breeches are 'normal'? Secondly even if the breeches are within the average for the state, wouldn't you be a bit worried that the government work place safety authorities aren't vigorously monitoring and prosecuting companies that make constant safety violations? Wouldn't you be worried that their are companies out there that seem to have chronic breeches of work safe practices?
