CBD for anxiety

Get a vape!

I have a tower and it brings out a low temp vapor, cool and sweet tasting!

I roll one or two a day for old times sake. I take pride in that every one looks factory! Technically it is a no smoking building so I use an air cleaner desk size right next to the volcano.
I had a VP-500 which was a bag vape like a volcano but better in my opinion and much cheaper, the cops took it when I got busted from an illegal search and seizure. It sat longwise, horizontally, not like a volcano. I could set it at 328 and get a huge bag of vape it was great. Have never been able to find another.

My best friend's wife has anxiety. It's not noticeable to others as she conceals it well but it's always been there since childhood and she feels it prevents her from fully enjoying life.

She's not interested in any prescription remedies as she doesn't take anything now and doesn't want to start.

There seems to have been few studies on CBD for anxiety but the small ones that I've seen found that 300 to 600 mg a day is useful in reducing anxiety symptoms.

Does anyone have experience with this?
I would look for tightly controlled clinical trials on CBD and anxiety if any exist.

I've seen one but it was a small study group (100 participants). Despite that there was a conclusion that CBD did reduce anxiety.

In the right temperature you can store vape for a couple of hours!

Make sure you look for any interactions there might be with any prescription medication you take.

CBD and other medications: Proceed with caution

CBD can alter the effects of other drugs

Many drugs are broken down by enzymes in the liver, and CBD may compete for or interfere with these enzymes, leading to too much or not enough of the drug in the body, called altered concentration. The altered concentration, in turn, may lead to the medication not working, or an increased risk of side effects. Such drug interactions are usually hard to predict but can cause unpleasant and sometimes serious problems.

Researchers from Penn State College of Medicine evaluated existing information on five prescription CBD and delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) cannabinoid medications: antinausea medications used during cancer treatment (Marinol, Syndros, Cesamet); a medication used primarily for muscle spasms in multiple sclerosis (Sativex, which is not currently available in the US, but available in other countries); and an antiseizure medication (Epidiolex). Overall, the researchers identified 139 medications that may be affected by cannabinoids. This list was further narrowed to 57 medications, for which altered concentration can be dangerous. The list contains a variety of drugs from heart medications to antibiotics, although not all the drugs on the list may be affected by CBD-only products (some are only affected by THC). Potentially serious drug interactions with CBD included

Good info 👍

A slight cautionary tale:
I accidentally discovered that pot Brownies could reduce my anxiety and magically give me a good night sleep. My husband was dying of cancer and I consumed a tiny bit of the pot brownies I made for him. It knocked me out.

Seven years later I was still eating pot brownies so that I could sleep. The trouble was that I had developed a tolerance and felt that I was becoming even more anxious and depressed during the daytime.

So, I went cold turkey and I could barely sleep at all, felt awful much of the time. It took about a year and the help of other tools, for me to lose my dependency.

Now, I meditate, hike many miles a week and, when necessary, use a half a gummy consisting of CBD , CBN, and THC- designed for sleep .
Just knowing that I have something that helps with sleep/anxiety is calming -even if I don't use it.

OH YEAH!

Medications don't work. If anything the side effects make it pretty ugly.
Get help. Find someone else who suffers and get them together. We secretly 'make do', meaning sufferers find their own remedies (especially men since it isn't cool to go to the doc with "anxieties")

And pot in any form is the best treatment. Keep the dosages small so you can still function and you can have a stress free, happy life.

If you have a dispensary talk to them face to face. If not go on line and seek out remedies as here the shops have created their own blends. Edibles are not over sweet anymore and oils, I am told, work fine. But you are targeting a specific problem and that alone.

I'm a 60's biker/hippy who first toked at 16. I'm nicely lit 24/7. I call it nirvana.

In any remedy there is a tolerance factor. I suspect you kind of liked getting the high as well

Also, as one who had dealt with insomnia for 20 years, pot is NOT a treatment. It works for awhile, then its effect of calming wears off and no you have "resistance to sleep." Like me, because of a history, it is difficult to fall asleep. Nearing 80 I surrendered some time ago and now use sleep meds.

Through your pharmacy you can access some information of "Sleep hygiene", a process that begins before its time to sleep. I know not only how much I eat but what I eat in the evening can affect my sleep. What movie I watch and even some conversations are to be avoided.

There's a lot of room to experiment before going to sleep meds, which should be delayed it not prevented

As a retired therapist specialising in infant and child trauma let me make 2 suggestions. Go to therapy with her and discover the cause of the anxiety. Anxiety means fear and the goal is to avoid something. Does she have panic attacks? What are her triggers? Is there any childhood trauma in her memory? You can get her a root called ashwagandha. It blocks cortisol in the brain that causes the discomfort of anxiety. You can also try and work with her yourself. Have her draw all the things she hates and fears. Talk about the drawing. Then she tears it up and you hug her. Then have her draw the things she loves. Drawing unlike talking reaches into the limbic system were anxiety is created. Good luck

It can increase anxiety

Dear god. In what state did you "practice?"

From what I've read CBD can decrease anxiety while THC is more likely to increase it.

It's like anything else, everyone is different, so different things will work for different people.

For me, thc manages my anxiety nicely - it gives me a break from having to push back against it with more mindful tools and lets me recharge. It also prevents one from entering into REM sleep, which isn't great unless your nightmares prevent you from sleeping at all.

However, it took a long time to get to the right dosage and strains, soo.. it is a bit of a journey, and one has to expect that and not get discouraged.

Same with CBD. While I find it works, it takes a while to figure out the right dosage, and since thc works better for me overall, I didn't bother putting the work in with cbd.

The general take away is that medicating symptoms of mental health is tricky no matter what path you choose, including traditional prescription meds, so they need to be patient and willing to try anything, understanding that their first experience will likely lead more to adjustments than instant relief.

Has she tried therapy? There are good online places for it now, and it seems to me that it's an approach which addresses the problem more at its root than just trying to drug it into numbness.

If a person has paranoid or anxiety tendencies, THC will likely increase them. CBD is different. You don't get high from it.

I don't have any experience with CBD, but I do have experience reducing anxiety with non pharmaceutical remedies.

I had luck with ashwagandha.

yep, works for other things too.

Vitamin D is essential regardless of what you suffer from; of course should also be taken with vitamin K2

most people are very deficient in Vitamin D, zinc, magnesium and Iodine.

Magnesium and melatonin knocks me out at night.

surprised no one said Bicycling, walking, prayer, the Bible...........the list goes on.

they say bicycling better than any shrink drug out there.......meh requires effort, i get that.

blessings.
