Scholars believe a copy of the Koran held in England may be even older than the Prophet Muhammad. Carbon dating of a fragment from a Koran stored at a Birmingham library suggests that the book was produced between 568 and 645 A.D., said scientists at the University of Oxford, but Islamic scholars generally believe Muhammad lived between 570 and 632 A.D.

That's common with most ancient religious documents, including much of the New Testament. They're almost all written anonymously, based on oral traditions.

Later adherents sometimes try to increase the credibility of the texts, by attributing it to prominent figures in those movements.

That is so. In this case the amusing thing seems to be the dating that might predate the prophet, which would be true magic.

lol... No, it won't be "magic." It'll mean that the stories told about the origins of the Koran are not historically accurate. Again, this is very typical of religions.

I could be wrong, but I think scholars know this already, and know Muhammad was more a complier than an author (or transmitter, if you prefer). If so, this is more a confirmation than a big revelation.

I prefer the idea that he took the dictation before he was born. It has something more mysterious about it.
