Canadians are taking a big step back from the U.S.

He put the tariffs on because of that threat then had jesse ****ing waters act insulted the offer was rejected.

I never understood why people in any other country would embrace American style republicanism in the first place as the US seems to be good governance accident prone.

A few Americans on this forum feel things will go back to normal after Trump is out of office. I don't think they are reading the room. When I listen to family, friends and neighbours they use 'Trump' and 'America' interchangeably in their criticism of the 52st state, border redrawing and tariffs aggression.

Carney and the Canadians are not stupid, they are thinking ahead and of the present. I don't blame them one bit.

The Trump Fascist Regime has broken too many things in my country, and hurt too many citizens, businesses and organizations.

Even if he gets the boot and someone patriotic and sane comes into office, they will not be able to undo the damage in one or two terms.

America is dying and will soon be dead, unrecognizable. Sad, but true thanks to the republican party that died in disgrace, and traitor trump and his brainwashed magats. Glad I'm older with no children, my heart goes out to my fellow Americans with families who are being stripped of their finances, health care, privacy and freedoms. Never thought I'd live to see the day, but here we are.

I think you're wrong on both counts. Trump was, and is serious with his nonsense about ruining Canada's economy to the point of making Canada vulnerable to an annexation.
When one considers just a few short months ago, no one would have taken his threats to censor any media seriously but today he's weaponized the FCC to do his petty work for him while also threatening foreign reporters with repercussions, this; taken in concert with the fact that millions of Americans cheer him on in these endeavours; it behooves us to take this cretin seriously.

He did but only because he never forgot how Trudeau trolled him while attempting to keep his power. I know childish on both their parts, but it is what it is. I have faith that Carney and Trump will work something out. If some Canadians want to stay piss'd-off at Trump and our country, their misery is on them.

Canada is the best ally any country has ever had. Canadians have fought and died on battlefields around the world for causes that were never ours. Because we know what 'ally' means. Canadians fought and died because America had been attacked.
The USA is nobody's ally. The USA can't be trusted to keep it's word on simple trade agreements. Nobody could trust America to honour any alliance.
