Can we please stop the 'good guy with a gun fallacy'?

No it doesn't, but in the case of the rights wing's fan base - there are.

Yes
It basically comes down to a perception of a loss of power/prestige.

Himself and money.

The topic is not, "Why we hate the others."

Hate?

You read minds from your laptop?

What I have noticed in the last decade right wing posts appear to be no more than bait threads, when you put a powerful word like "hate" in a ****ing headline it's pretty clear you're not open to new ideas.

But then the American right appear to be cement heads..and this post does nothing to dispel that idea.

Really? You're asking what hate I'm referring to in the same post in which you referred to a large percentage of the country as "cement heads," and also wrongly assume I'm one of them? Isn't that precious?

You haven't been around here long, have you? You don't refer to a massively popular past time as a "fetish," or its participants as "nutters" or "ammosexuals," or claim that they must not care about innocent children dying simply because they don't support making it a felony to put a pistol grip on a semiautomatic rifle, without there being a degree of hate involved.

As I said pot calling the kettle black
you seem confused again.
You say guns are only designed to propel projectiles,
yes, that is an objective fact of physics and engineering.
but remain silent on what you think washing machines designed to do ?
because washing machines have no relevance to a gun thread. Start a thread about washing machines, and I'll school you there as well.

He thinks he can support the claim that guns have only one purpose, by pointing to something else that he thinks has only one purpose. I've taken his "washing machine" bait, but he feared actually arguing or supporting what he considers his grand point.

And that's the difference. Hand guns have ONE and only ONE purpose - to kill another human being.

That's not true. There is a great deal of sport and competition using handguns. Are you familiar with the SAS?

We take it even further.

We hold events in Vegas, Texas, large venues around the country. Those events mean jobs and support businesses...hotels, restaurants, jobs, RVs, RV parks, campgrounds, etc.

And it's fun as hell.

It's not even true when you take recreation out of the picture. The main purpose of a handgun is to stop another person from harming you or someone else. The vast majority of the time that can be accomplished without even firing the weapon, let alone killing anyone.

The purpose of any gun is what the person who possesses it decides to use it for. My Ruger Single-Six isn't all that much of a self defense gun, though it could be pressed into that role if choice or need determined by my estimation. Yet another person might own one specifically for that purpose.

You're right. I was referring to what I assume is the most common reason people get handguns, i.e., for self defense. And with that assumption....

To put it another way, factoring in your correction, very very few people buy handguns because they want to kill someone.

Saying that "the sole purpose of a handgun is to kill people" makes even less sense than saying that the sole purpose of laws against murder is to put people in prison.

Sometimes it is just prejudice and bigotry and a lack of imagination, that leads to the "sole purpose" bullshit. They just can't fathom why anyone would find a need for something they don't have an interest in, and the only reason they can imagine is the one one that they've been told by those they accept as their leaders and superiors.

I sometimes invoke the allegory of the crotchety guy whose neighbor gets a new speedboat. "Hell does he need that thing for?"

Usually a lack of understanding and irrational fear.

I guarantee you I will put more rounds on target faster with an AR then you will with a lever out pump action.
Your point?

My point was that any rifle could easily duplicate the carnage caused by the AR in the last 2 school shootings. Your splits will be faster but mine will be fast enough to complete that task with ease. The larger cartridge or shell making each hit more devastating. The lack of large capacity forcing accurate aimed fire for success.

Can you guarantee your splits to be faster than mine with my AR lol?
