Can I show you my 12th birthday present, and my oldest possession? It may help some of you understand.

I already know the answer. It just sounded like you thought they believed differently. If you disagree with them, let me know. I'd be curious to find out.

Given Heller and Heller II I don't see a path to having NFA 1934 reversed.

It was hard to enforce any other way. Like I said, I am totally OK with that.
Hard to enforce? There had been just one homicide with a legally owned machine gun in over 50 years. That's as close to perfect as you can get.

Like most things in life, there may be a sweet spot in the middle there somewhere. Good idea?

You posted in reference to a gift the OP received for his 12th birthday. The **** are you even talking about at this point?

When we are the massacre capital of the planet, it MAY not be enough.

The OP can keep his gun from age 12. No one is coming after it.

We're the massacre capital of the world? I don't believe you.

Ready on the goalposts...GO!

Well there will be no gun confiscation in my lifetime.

Compromise implies "give and take". What are you offering to give back?

It's a 1965 JC Higgins .22 caliber single shot rifle. My dad bought it at Sears. It cost $12.50 (yep) new then. This was a traditional gift for young men in the Western states, like a Bar Mitzvah, coming of age gift for rural, non-Jewish kids. For males, but not always, some females, too. Very PC.

I've kept it all these years (I'm 69). It's in many respects an object of reverence, for not just me, but others, too. This is a relatively recent picture. Do you see how beautifully finished the stock (wood part) is? That was done as a gift from some crazy roommates in 1985.
In addition, it's barrel is flawless-it's incredibly accurate to this day.
It's taught me a great deal of life lessons, too. About death, life, the power of firearms.
I hope some of you can better understand the "gun culture". It's a part of America.

I had a .22, too, when I was growing up in the farm. We all did. So what? That doesn’t mean that I grew up to worship guns like the NRA freaks do. Guns are no big deal. Anyone can shoot a gun. Pull trigger, go boom. So what?

What's the purpose of entering a thread with immediate insult and invective?

Not at all

Just stating facts. Over 400 million guns out there. Half of America's 350 million citizens own guns. Get real.

And yet you have paranoia over “gun confiscation”. Do you gun wackos never tire of your drama?

The OP can keep his gun he is nostalgic about.
And you want to pretend it is just 2nd amendment supporters who are willing to compromise.

How pathetic.

Missed the time to edit it. Should have said who are not willing to compromise

You don't seem like you're here for debate, but rather to attack your enemies.

Just saying how it seems to me.

except I don't

rifle deer season has been in almost every state last few weeks, literally tens of millions of people in the woods and many carrying semi-auto rifles

how many deaths have there been? 5 ? 10 ? and none of them murders

guns are not the problem

many people won't admit to having guns because of the hate they'll receive or fear someone will come and take them etc
Why own an object if you're afraid of it being stolen? Also you did not evidence your claim (bolded) nor did you validate the claim that "Half of America's 350 million citizens own guns."

Why do you think you could aim less carefully with a shotgun at typical across-the-room distance?
Typical house distance could be 75'. With a shotgun, I'd never have to worry about aiming, since I'd only be using it indoors.

Plus, a shotgun feels like an extension of myself. I've used it since childhood. But I've rarely used a rifle except for .22 with squirrels and 30-06 with deer.

It’s pretty obvious you had no idea and thought red dots were for long distance shooting

Now let’s see you quote me saying anything about no mags being able to hold more then 3 rounds.

We both no you won’t.

Maybe you are just confused and don’t realize that you telling lies is not what debating in good faith means.
When you're ready.

You having to resort to telling lies says otherwise
Sorry, but I'm just not emotionally involved with you. You're talking to Spock. Sure, he loves you, in his way, but he's just no emotionally engaged with you.
