Calls grow for Nunes to step aside in Russia probe[W:266]

I love Byron, always did. But I'm not sure what Schiff was/is supposed to say. It's an ongoing investigation and these are classified documents. I saw the Schiff interview yesterday. He did say he doesn't agree with Nunes' "characterization". Nunes also has said what's in them, and he's the one who wanted everyone in the world to know about them. Schiff didn't go public - Nunes did.

Neither Nunes nor Schiff has offered specifics. What's noteworthy about Schiff, IMHO, is the way he's no longer chasing every TV camera in town.

He was on the television yesterday. And he's been taking to Twitter. A lot.

The entire point of York's article was that Schiff hasn't discussed the contents. Maybe he forgot that neither did the man who made the entire world know about them in the first place, with a big splash and a big to do and running to the WH then giving a press conference in front of Congress and again at the WH. I know York is trying to shift this to Schiff, but he isn't the one who caused this. That was Nunes.

Nothing was "caused." I don't think Nunes did anything wrong. Neither did Schiff; it's just that he's no longer attacking as he was.

I know - I've been noticing that pattern as well. It was more than fair in my opinion to question HRC's trustworthiness before November 8th. Her lack of trustworthiness was the major reason, in my opinion why she LOST. So Trumpee's should get over it - they won - the only thing Trump supporters should be worried about right now is whether or not they've been backing someone even worse. In my opinion, their contrasting Trump's ethics with HRC's is a way to deflect attention from the fact they're supporting a childish, psychotic, childish clown - and that the US's standing in the world is heading for a much worse place than it would have been under an HRC administration.

Hillary and the Clinton Foundation and uranium and Haiti and Monica Lewinsky and every other deflection should not get constantly brought up in discussions about Trump. Did every thread about something Obama did that they didn't like include a comment from an Obama supporter that said "But ROMNEY!"?

Focus to the topic. It's Trump. These days it's always Trump - he's President and she isn't. Duh. If she was President we could have oodles of discussions about what a miserable human being she is. But she isn't. And yet they still constantly, daily, hourly bring her up, as if she has anything at all to do with Nunes and the Russia probe. Frustrating as hell.

You didn't see the same interview I did. He is most definitely still criticizing Nunes for what he did.

Something was caused, and that's this discussion. Had Nunes done the right thing and bring it to his entire committee, and dispensed with the theatrics, this thread would not even exist.

That depends on the circumstances that brought the intel to Nunes. I think he acted as he did to protect a source, and no, I don't believe the publicly named figures in the WH were the source.

"Snopes"

Snopes hasnt been credible since they stopped affirming myths about UFOs. Whether its the husband that ran off with the porn star/escort who then put her on the payroll and is accused by his ex wife of using company funds to pay for drugs and prostitutes,

or the embezzling wife, or their chief 'investigator' that is an avowed leftist, the former failed 'Vice Vixen' that used to write blogs for the Inquisitr FFS. Oh no...considering the owners...she is a perfect fit at Snopes...the site leftists love to love.

Reading any of her articles proves she is nothing more than a shill. The Orlando shooter wasnt really a democrat just because he was a registered democrat and voted democrat. The DNC really did fly American flags at the Convention and look...heres a picture from days before that totally prove it. Hillary wasnt lying when she said we didnt lose anyone in Libya...she just meant between certain months in 2011.

He caused mass chaos to protect a source, when he should have taken the information right to the fellow members of his committee - including the other Republicans? Nah, not buying that, jack. Nunes brought on the theatrics himself. He shouldn't have done what he did.

There may very well be nefarious information in what he saw. I can only imagine how deep the incidental surveillance went. But just like Trump with his Twitter rages at the beginning of March, calling Obama a "sick guy", Nunes should have known there's a better way of handling things.

Rice thought she was ordering Chinese take out. You know, one from column A, two from column B - that kind of thing. Them names just happened to be inside the fortune cookies. Shazzam.
Right. It was all part of just a normal investigation...and when she asked them to unmask names from 2015...that was just to do a check on Hotwire.com. She was going to stay in the Trump Towers for a vacation and wanted to just check to see what the reviews said.

If the source was not authorized to provide the information he could hardly do that without first making the issue public and forcing the hand of those holding the information.

Rice is just the first step. The rest will follow if they are diligent. This will take a while to unravel. I wonder if Obama is returning Rice's calls.

If he expects her to fall on her political sword he damn sure better.

It's a little late to suggest there wasn't WH coordination. I agree. The phones still work in Tahiti if the call is important enough.

Rice has already started doing her tap dance. Just like Yates, she is doing everything she can to walk back the obvious intent of her actions and words. But she can hide behind the fifth. Both her and Yates will be fine, unless they subpoena their phone records and find some people on 'The Hill' that tumble. Then they are screwed.

I expect they're going to go after everything - phone records and the whole nine yards. It's just too big to let anything go unexamined. Nixon dreamed of having this kind of power to turn on his political adversaries.

Rice is both rude and unempathetic. I doubt many will exert themselves to help her.

Calls grow for Nunes to step aside in Russia probe

Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R/CA) should immediately recuse himself. Nunes has shattered even any pretense of investigative-independence with his secret White House meetings..

Baloney. The left is just scared sh*tless that Obama administration abuse of intelligence gathering is coming out.

What is actually needed is for Congress to remove itself altogether from an investigative stature (far too much partisanship) and appoint a mutually acceptable non-partisan independent investigator with subpoena power and open hearings on the Hill. The American people deserve to know with certainty whether or not the Trump administration is compromised (kompromat) via Kremlin influence.

The American people deserved to know many things during the Obama administration as well. Without congressional hearings over Benghazi, we may have never learned about Hillary Clinton's illegal sending and receiving classified emails on an unsecured private email server. We may have never learned about the way the Clinton's have operated the "Clinton Foundation" as a sludge fund for foreign donors expecting favors as she was expected to be elected president. We would also have been kept in the dark about the IRS scandal. Obama lied his ass off when he claimed just before leaving office that there were no scandals during his administration. There were several, stating with "Fast and Furious". However Obama absolutely refused to push appointing independent counsel to look into those scandals.
