NBC announcer Cris Collinsworth's imitation of Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott's signature 'Here we goooo' call did not sit well with viewers.

One disgruntled fan voiced their opinion on X, stating: "Listening to Cris Collinsworth on Sunday Night Football is absolutely painful and annoying. He's definitely the worst out there.

I don't agree Collinsworth should be fired for being stupid. I just think he's terrible. I could never stand his droning on with his pseudo football knowledge.

NBC should have shown him the door years ago!

Another quote from the article:

"Cris Collsinworth don't ever do that again," one fan tweeted. "Someone fire Collinsworth! ! Do it now," another demanded.

Some users humorously compared the call. "Collisworth hollering here we go [just] like Beyonce in drunk in love," one pointed out,
Collinsworth must have scandalous pictures of some NBC exec!

I'm not sure about this issue with Prescott, but in college my friends and I had a drinking game to drink every time he brought up a player irrelevant to the game we were watching. We drank a lot that day.

I can't stand him.

Not really seeing the issue here, but holy cow, Collinsworth has really aged!

I'm like @Loulit01 and prefer to watch the NFL with sound muted. Really tired of the "color" commentators droning on and on and on about the pettiest stuff - and that mostly stuff even the average football fan has heard umpteen times before. What a worthless job...

I'm with you. He just goes on and on talking just to hear himself talk. Begone Collinsworth!

Never been a fan of CC, BUT the "Here we go" Prescott uses sounds soooooo Junior High. Now they have the backup doing it, too. I read that Dak came up with that as his signature call. Why is Rush having to do it, too?

Rodger has his "GREEN 19"

Manning had "OMAHA".

Dak could have come up with something adult, or at least fit the game.

It’s the cadence that the center, the offensive line, and the whole offense is used to. It just makes sense that a backup QB is going to use the same call to avoid false starts.

Commenting on the thread in general and not your post, as far as Chris Collinsworth is concerned, when a person has been a color commentator for as many games as he has, you’re bound to say some things over time that may irritate some viewers. No need to cancel them or call for them to be cancelled. OP stated that, as well.

One can go way back to Howard Cosell, Frank Gifford, and Dandy Don Meredith or even John Madden and hear stupid stuff on a weekly basis. I don’t care for some announcers, but they aren’t going to spoil watching the event, at least for me.

Not entirely clear.

Is there some claim that this was racist...?

Remember Monday Night Football and Dennis Miller?

Talk about obscure referencings. It was like watching MST3K but with football.

Poor Dennis. His career tanked after he became a GOP neocon troll.

I like him.

But I liked John Madden too, in spite of his penchant for stating the painfully obvious.

"You know......when it comes down to it.....the team that puts the most points on the board is going to win this game!"

Careful. I think you're repeating Frank Caliendo's impression of Madden :)

When Rodgers was hurt, I don't recall the back up screaming "GREEN 19" nor back ups to Manning yelling "omaha"

Different teams do different things. Go on sounds, go on claps, go on the guard’s hand signal. And those guys, Rodgers and Manning, are/were two of the very best at drawing offsides penalties on the defense. But if that’s what Cooper Rush does in practice, he’ll do it in games.

"Omaha was just an indicator word," Manning explained. "It was a trigger word that meant we had changed the play, there was low time on the clock and the ball needed to be snapped right now to kind of let my offensive lineman know that 'Hey, we'd gone to Plan B, there's low time on the clock.' It's a rhythmic three-syllable word, 'O-ma-ha, set hut.'"

OMG - I do! And I love Dennis Miller, but that was painful - totally wrong venue for him.

Cris, a few years younger than me, played his college football career with the University of Florida. I watched him play plenty of times at Florida Field.

Smart guy in the Classroom too; he finished with an accounting degree at UF. Well into and after his NFL career, he obtained a law degree.

His family keeps a 2nd home in Longboat Key FL.
