Until the proponents for gay marriage win..........That is the way it is on any issue........
What "goodies" are married couples getting fromt he Government?
agreed. That was one of the biggest lies that the Mormon's perpetrated on the uneducated public.
Well....if Constitutional rights are subject to a simple majority vote, then it should be on the ballot every year in order to reflect what the will of the majority is.
Views of gay marriage are changing rapidly. The younger generation overwhelmingly approves of gay marriage. It is inevitable.
Well.....wouldn't that be the will of the people Navy?
Why shouldn't the issue be on the ballot every year to determine exactly what the will of the people is?
Are you suggesting that if people's viewpoints change, they should be bound by a 10 year old ballot initiative?
Doesn't sound like you believe in the "Will of the people".
Oh one of them would be leaving the family home to the surviving spouse tax free.
Only in your dreams............More and more states are voting to ban gay marriage evry year by huge majorities...........

A will can resolve that problem..........
I'm sorry, but who defined marriage as ONLY between a man and woman in the first place? I don't see anyone re-defining anything. I do, however, see people trying to give it a far more specific definition so that it excludes certain people.
Prop 8 is the will if the people.........
Sorry....you are on the losing side of history here. Attitudes about gay marriage are shifting rapidly. The younger generation overwhelmingly favors gay marriage. Its only a matter of time. Your state bans are simply a desperate attempt by the older generation to hang on to the last bastions of discrimination. Gay marriage is going to happen....even in your lifetime Navy.
I am always amused by your questioning the OBVIOUS in an effort to avoid any substance. Marriage has been defined over centuries by the church as being between a MAN and a WOMAN for the express purpose of creating life/children.
It is the primary purpose of marriage; if you do not plan to ever have a child, why bother with all the complications and commitment marriage demands?
Now bring in Gay rights activists who decided to demand a re-definition of what marriage means for political reasons. What are those reasons you may ask? The right to adopt children comes to mind which raises a whole new debate which is not for this thread.
and gay marriage will be the will of the people in the next election. Get used to it, whether you like it or not.
Wht are more and more states voting by huge margins to ban it then?
That only can happen with activist judges............

Well it's a good thing I didn't make anything resembling an argument that marriage devalues gays, isn't it?
They're not.....those margins are getting smaller and smaller as the older generation dies off and the younger generations mature.

Jerry, this is not the right decision...devaluing a class of citizens based on the moral disapproval of their private lives is so far from a conservative principle I am surprised you aren't gnashing your teeth over it.
:doh
On what basis? This one is headed to the SCOTUS.
Your dreaming my friend the closest they have come was in Oregon where traditional marriage won by almost 60%
