LOL Champagne socialist Gruesom fleeces his woke fanbase once more. How does this idiot stay in power? Oh wait, its California. Anyone with a brain has already left the state or is planning to.
Newsom killed it.

Convenient excuse used by the CA Democrats in their legislative branch to avoid accountability for THEM not moving forward with this issue.

At least there is one CA lawmaker (Republican, of course) who is willing to speak the truth.

For years, the Democrat party has been promising to pay direct cash reparations to Americans who have been harmed by slavery. They convinced voters they were serious about this proposal and that they would enact legislation to make it happen.
When the time came to pass the bills, they went into hiding and refused to bring the bills to the floor for a vote. There were hundreds of activists in the Capitol being visibly ignored by the democrats in Sacramento. They weren’t even allowed to enter the public gallery to watch the proceedings. I’ve never seen that happen.
I met with several members of the public there to support the bills. I found them to be sincere, honest, and deeply frustrated Americans. I believed there should be a debate and a recorded vote on the issue. Politicians cannot be allowed to make promises to the people who elect them, and then hide like cowards when it’s time to go on record. At minimum, the People were owed a hearing and opportunity to know where their elected representative stands on the issue.

California does not hold free and fair elections. They keep counting until the Democrat running wins.

For those interested, here is the executive summary of last year's report from the California reparations commission. Although I don't think direct financial payments are an answer, both parties need to do better at instituting policies to make up for the legacies of slavery and racism and put Black people in a position where they are able to compete with average White families on an even playing field.

Recalling the oneupsmanship of the reparations task force last year was highly amusing. Each member kept trying to outdo the others. "A hundred thousand for every black? Chickenfeed! Make it $200K!" "No, $500K!" "No, $1.2 million! And a free house! And lifetime exemption from paying state taxes!"

Of course none of this could ever happen. There are 2.5 million blacks in the state. It would have cost many multiple times the entire state budget to cover all the promises.

This was never about money. This was about pimping the black vote for Harris and other Dems. But they overplayed their hand. Trump got a larger share of the black vote than ever before. And blacks, esp. black men, tired of being conned, are switching to the GOP.

The idea of reparations for (long past racial discrimination?) is flawed, since it amounts to a class action settlement with the plaintiff ‘class’ remaining largely undefined and the defendant ‘class’ being the current taxpayers (who haven’t been shown to have been discriminatory).

Stopped there. The man is an ass with nothing of value to say.

Too progressive = Flat out broke.
