Link: California professor refuses to use ‘chief’ in her CEO title, says it offends ‘Indigenous colleagues'
Dr. Dori Tunstall, faculty member of the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) Extended Studies programs, refuses to use the word “chief,” claiming that it is offensive to Native Americans...
Because of course it is. And manhole cover is offensive to women. Master bedroom is triggering blacks. Merit = white supremacy. "Pedophile" is offensive to 'minor attracted people.' Use "Birthing People" so as not to offend chronic narcissists or the mentally ill. Because Dylan Mulvaney can totally get knocked up, yo.
...However, according to Liberty University linguistics professor Dr. Jaeshil Kim: “The word chief comes from the Old French chef, meaning ‘leader’ or ‘head,’” and “[t]he term was applied to Native American leaders by European settlers, aligning with their existing use of the word for leaders in other societies.”
She concluded that the term “Chief Executive Officer” signifies “its original meaning of leadership and authority without direct reference to Native American cultures.”...
Dr. Kim is pissing into the wind. The cult will not be persuaded. It is my opinion that the left's genuflecting at the altar of the Holy Church Of Woke greatly helped to swing the pendulum the other way in November.
Woke moron (sorry, redundant).
Then there's "California professor" - 'cept that's an obvious oxymoron.

Well dang... there're always exceptions.I was a CA. professor. Taught at the college level, but I didn't need to make an ass out of myself to prove I was "important". Virtue signaling is a disease for which there is no cure, much like TDS.
Highland clans had chiefs long before Columbus stumbled into the Americas. Although, of course there's a different word in Gaelic. Just as there's a different word in Algonquian. And in Norse for a Viking chief.Yeah... this was dumb. A lot of dumb people out there.
Of course, generalizing everyone based off of one outlier dummy story is kinda dumb too. Yep, all kinds of dumb people out there.
Yeah, no sense in being sensitive to other groups, right??
Yes, when I went into the voting booth, I too was concerned about what some professor I'd never hear of in another state did something I didn't agree with. It was the very thing that swung my vote.Link: California professor refuses to use ‘chief’ in her CEO title, says it offends ‘Indigenous colleagues'

Nothing to you, perhaps....Not if they get offended over nothing.
