California gas prices are insane. The Democrats running the state don’t care. I wonder how much the deluded libs in CA will take?

A Republican sponsored bill would have suspended the California gas tax for a year. Gas prices here are almost $6 a gallon, 51 cents of which is state tax. . The gas tax was the result of a scam bill from Democrats that raised gas taxes to " Improve road conditions". Which was complete BS. These imbeciles hate cars, even though the state runs on them.
In reality, it takes wheelbarrow full of our money to feed, cloth, and educate illegal aliens and drug addicted bums. That's the actual reason. These scumball Democrats hate cars, and want to force everyone into EV's, which sadly, due to enviro-wackos, the state electrical grid can't power.
And they have $65 billion dollar state surplus....Thanks Joe, print more!
Be advised....this bloody insanity is the way of the country if you don't wake up and smell the coffee. Grossly incompetent? Oh, ya.

Gas prices have a much more damaging affect on the poor not just at the pump, but on food, basic goods, and pantry staples.

True, but they're too stupid to figure that out. Ergo....grossly incompetent.

Not too far off from the truth there Grandpappy. Much has already been posted on this in these forums.

Just in the past week, the administration has only doubled down to:
  • propose new climate standards to regulate conventional trucks out of existence.
  • decline to appeal a federal court decision vacating the only lease sale held on federal lands or waters (despite clear statutory direction from Congress to regularly hold sales).
  • propose any day now what some are calling “the biggest rule … the [Securities and Exchange Commission] has done in quite some time”; namely, mandating companies disclose greenhouse emissions from their entire supply chain.

Russian Oil Import Ban Just a Distraction From Biden’s Anti-Energy Policies

Joe Biden Doesn’t Want Your Gas To Be $4 A Gallon. He Wants It To Cost Even More
You paying more (and more) at the pump just means Biden gets one step closer to his anti-oil agenda. Don’t think he isn’t happy about it.

I was paying $1.89 before Xiden was installed, now I'm paying $3.99

Let's Go Brandon!

Californians voted much of this in.

You want Big Gummint to step up and give you Socialism Grandpappy.

I support it.

Sounds to me like those people need a higher minimum wage.

You mean to tell me that those with little money are disadvantaged when it comes to buying stuff?

WHO KNEW?!?

On the other end, California has some of the highest wages also. The minimum wage in California is $15.00
You can pay 25-40 dollars more for a full tank of gas but you're still ahead versus some of the states like Florida.
Gas in Florida (Sarasota) is around 4.50 ...just bought some today. The minimum wage is 10 bucks
California wages is 5 bucks higher.... times 40 equals 200 bucks a week You're still far ahead.

Florida is a real Right To Work Conservative Utopia from all indications.

So if gas taxes are lifted where should the government recover the lost revenue?

Those that are running their vehicles on California roads are helping to pay for their maintenance through gasoline taxes. Seems fair to me.

Why don’t you wish to pay your share for road use?

Yes, that would seem reasonable, but Grandpappy has a point, even though he worded it very strangely.

These imbeciles hate cars, even though the state runs on them.

^^^ I think what Grandpappy means to say is that if you're driving from Salt Lake to Sacramento, you could fall asleep in the back seat of a car taking I-80 through Utah and Nevada. Once you hit the California border (literally) you will be jolted from your nap.

California doesn't hate cars. It hates safe roadways. California is an overtaxed state with strange regulations, like warning signs on outside smoking areas. High taxes. Little maintenance.

Except the gas tax was jacked up because they weren't paying for the roads..... So it was said. The reality was much was siphoned of to the Non-High Speed Rail to nowhere and other boondoggles.

And then the new taxes still won't go to new roads desperately needed.

All while sitting on Billions of overages.
