A new analysis that began under the Biden administration is released by the C.I.A.’s new director, John Ratcliffe, who wants the agency to get “off the sidelines” in the debate.

The C.I.A. has said for years that it did not have enough information to conclude whether the Covid pandemic emerged naturally from a wet market in Wuhan, China, or from an accidental leak at a research lab there.

But the agency issued a new assessment this week, with analysts saying they now favor the lab theory.

There is no new intelligence behind the agency’s shift, officials said. Rather it is based on the same evidence it has been chewing over for months.

The analysis, however, is based in part on a closer look at the conditions in the high security labs in Wuhan province before the pandemic outbreak, according to people familiar with the agency’s work.

Saying it was a lab leak used to get you censored online. Hopefully we can get more information about how it started and people need to be held accountable.

The CIA now joins the FBI in saying the lab leak is the most likely source of th virus. But libs wont believe it because, well, Trump!!!

There's such a thing as the 'preponderance of evidence' but I guess only the Chinese know with certainty... And we already know what they say.

Wait NOAA and climate scientist to get straighten out. They're going to flip on Climate Change too.

BS. If it came from there, it did. Hopefully they'll get to the bottom of it. Who cares about Trump on this? This investigation / review started under Biden.

You'd have to convert the rest of the scientific world first... you know, outside of Trumplandia.

Now that Fauci is pardoned it is safe to admit the truth

Trump was right again.

The preponderance of evidence does support a lab leak. It is my hope that the US government will reinstate the ban on gain-of-function research that we had in place during Obama’s second term. The explicit rationale for that ban was the worry that a coronavirus or flu virus could escape the lab and cause a pandemic.

IMO it's not ethical to do this kind of research. The benefits are pretty small and the risks are extremely large.

Great. This is actually sensible. But it must be asked what is being proposed to penalize China and the Chinese government for covering up their malfeasance in starting this outbreak? Other than saying “they started it” that is?
