Liberals claim Bush is such a liar... What lie has he told?

Here are some of my favorites:

"I think what we need to do is convince people who live in the lands they live in to build the nations. Maybe I'm missing something here. I mean, we're going to have kind of a nation-building corps from America? Absolutely not." - George W. Bush, October 11, 2000

"I don't think our troops should be used for what's called nation building."
- George W. Bush, 2000

"I'm not so sure the role of the United States is going around the world saying 'this is the way its gotta be.'"
- George W. Bush, 2000

Couple of my favorite whoppers:

3/27/01: "We can proceed with tax relief without fear of budget deficits, even if the economy softens."
[]The page you requested has moved

Oh yeah, sure.

And this one:

We can meet our priorities, and we can fund them. And we can also pay down debt. I know a lot of folks around America are worried about national debt, as am I. We pay down $2 trillion of debt over the next 10 years. That's all the debt that's available to be retired without having to pay a premium for prepaying debt. That's a lot of debt retirement. It will be the biggest repayment of debt in the history of the world. And so we pay down debt. Mar 9 2001
President Bush Discusses the Budget in Sioux Falls, South Dakota

He was only off about $5 trillion on that fib.

What is the point of this thread conserv.pat15? Are you gonna listen and then try and refute them? This should be interesting, whatever your course of action...

ABSOLUTLEY. Here are my two favorites:

1. "We've never been stay the course.."

2. "There are still regimes seeking weapons of mass destruction - but no longer without attention and without consequence."

That he would "...defend the Constitution..." when he took his oath of office.
  • Starting a war 9 months before receiving Congressional
    authorization to do so
  • The Patriot Act
  • The Military Commissions Act
Those actions usurp the Constitution's authority as the Supreme Law of the Land. "Usurping" is not "defending".

LOL ya, I was kinda wondering the same thing. Maybe he really thought that his question would have us stumped, and no one would be able to produce a Bush lie.

How about "I did not have sex with that woman Ms Lewinsky" on national TV..........;)

Maybe so people like Navy here can, instead of trying to refute them, just say but Clinton lied so yada yada yada..how can you support him when Bush lies too.....blah..blah..blah....Clinton = bad, Bush = good.

Heres a good WMD lie (I'll name more later):
-In 2003, as part of his plan to convince the American people that Saddam was a threat, the President twice claimed that Saddam had tried to buy uranium from Niger. This being the basis of an argument stating that Saddam had a renewed nuclear weapons program.
The truth is that these reports were simultaneously debunked and all intelligence officials told Bush the sale never took place.

Pssst, NP, this is a Bush hate thread. The Clinton hate thread is down the hall. ------------------->

Of course Bush is a liar, but so are all other politicians, at least on the national level. You have to lie to get things done sometimes. IMO Bush has had bigger lies than some:

During the 2000 campaign, George W. Bush argued against nation building and foreign military entanglements. In the second presidential debate, he said: "I'm not so sure the role of the United States is to go around the world and say, 'This is the way it's got to be.'"

The United States is currently involved in nation building in Iraq on a scale unseen since the years immediately following World War II.

Neither of these takes into account that we were about to be forced to spend a lot of money cleaning up two disasters and engage in a considerable amount of military activity. These things cost money, and we can hardly blame the President for circumstances changing after he's made a statement.

The Patriot Act
The Military Commissions Act

Presidents do not write or pass laws. Both of these can be laid squarely at the feet of the Congress; if you'd like to accuse everyone who voted for these Acts of violating their Oaths of office, go ahead... but the Patriot Act was approved by an overwhelming bipartisan majority.

Anyone who watched the interview last night on 60 minutes could see that Bush is a liar.
If you didn't.....you should watch it. Watch Bush's body language when he is asked how he responds to criticism that he misled the country to justify the Iraq war.
When asked the question.....his eyelids begin to flutter.....his eyes begin to shift....he starts licking his lips.....all the patterns of body language that psychologists and police watch during interrogations to determine when someone is lying.
Bush exhibited every sign to such a degree that anyone watching...could tell he is being deceptive.
Of course...except the Bush Apologists.....which will come up with any explanation to explain the classic behavior.
You'd think that with all the experience that he has....he would make a better liar.......nope.

He has yet to be held accountable for anyting in his life, so he has not really had to worry about appearances....

Hrmm.. how can these be lies?
These were "before" 9/11 and "before" the war on terror.

How about "I did not have sex with that woman Ms Lewinsky" on national TV..........;)

Sure....Clinton lied to cover up his sexual indiscretions...both the lie and the affair were wrong. He let his supporters down....and worst of all....he let the Country down.

That said.....Bush/Cheney/Rumsfield lied to justify a war in which thousands of people including US Soldiers have died.
Bush has let his supporters down.....and worst of all....he let the Country down....and even worse....he let our military down by asking them to give their lives to fight a war based on deceit and Cheney/Rumsfields decades old desire to invade Iraq.

Neither scenario is great.....but only one has lead to thousands of deaths and countless suffering.....

But you keep apologizing for him and I'm sure that it will all be ok.

I missed the interview, but you leave out that one can be uncomfortable with a subject and have those signs of lieing.

Clearly, in his last speech, he is uncomfortable with the progression in Iraq.

WMD's

yeah bush is a liar-but what prez wasn't? all gov.'s sometimes lie to the people

Disneydude says Bush is a liar. That's it, vauge. If disney says so, then so be it.

Bush's War and why we went to war. Lies lies lies proven lies.
the main reason why he attacked Iraq, was because it was a sure thing that we could defeat them, and his corporate buddies needed money. it is form of corporate welfare.

Bush claims to love America, yet he is responsive to only those who make over 1000,000 a year. he hates the poor. He hates the sick,

He claims to be a christian yet is leading us on a total vision of Killing and death.

He is creating terrorists, and speaks of the terrible things, like Atomic weapons they want to use on us, but He refuses to have discussion with potential enemies so they won't use atomic weapons. Solving a problem is called appeasement. for Bush it is alright if a terrorists set off an Atomic weapon in the uSA as long as it is not in Texas. Bush loves terrorism, it give his life meaning. Bush the man who wants to be king. He is talking of fighting a war on terrorism, he is fighting a war of terrorism.

Here is Bush: A wanna be four horseman.

First seal is opened : a white horse appears, its rider held a bow (conquest).

(Rev 6:1-8 NIV) I watched as the Lamb opened the first of the seven seals. Then I heard one of the four living creatures say in a voice like thunder, "Come!" {2} I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest.

Second seal is opened : a red horse appears, its rider holds a sword (war)

{3} When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, "Come!" {4} Then another horse came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make men slay each other. To him was given a large sword.

Third seal is opened: a black horse appears, its rider holds a pair of scales (famine)

{5} When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, "Come!" I looked, and there before me was a black horse! Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand. {6} Then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures, saying, "A quart of wheat for a day's wages, and three quarts of barley for a day's wages, and do not damage the oil and the wine!"

Fourth seal is opened : a pale horse appears, its rider is called Death

{7} When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, "Come!" {8} I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth.

To believe Bush is to be Satans pawn.
All praise and glory to Michael Moore. Amen.

Tell us, Ms. Streisand, do you plan on recording a new CD anytime soon?

I can almost see the spittle flying onto your computer screen as you type. Opinions are funny things.

Aaahhhh... the old Bible quotes! :2razz:

Gotta love that logical argument...
...and very poetic too!

To be a true pawn of Satan, you need to have proper syntax.
Without THAT, you are just a simple pawn...

That's true to a certain extent....but police interrogators and psychologists know that you can watch body language and determine to a certain degree whether someone is telling the truth or not. Obviously it is not fool proof....nor are lie detector tests....however they are useful as a tool to use to determine whether someone is lying or not.
Go back and watch Bush when the question is asked. I think anyone who watches it with a careful eye will see that his body language speaks to much more than his discomfort with the way the war is going.
