Did I say that? No. I ony corrected the notion that Obama moved on UBL, "ASAP".
I understand far more than you do, how the train-up to this operation was a mother****er, so don't start with the pitty party.
actually we are finding out that he took a while to make the decision - and canked an earlier mission to do so. but still, at the end of the day, he did make the right call. he's just not a guy who has the ability to make big decisions quickly.
Too late, he's goimg there to lay a wreath....
By the way in an ironic twist of fate. Guess who may be going to nyc today.
By noon, Obama should be at Ground Zero.
There will be no triumphal speech about dispatching Navy SEALs to slay the dragon who brought down the twin towers.
This visit, White House spokesman Jay Carney said, is "to help New Yorkers and Americans everywhere to achieve a sense of closure."
"The president believes it's appropriate and fitting to travel to New York this week in the wake of the successful mission to bring Osama Bin Laden to justice," Carney said.
Obama is here to "recognize the terrible loss that New York suffered on 9/11, and to acknowledge the burden that families of the victims and the loved ones of the victims have been carrying with them since 9/11," he said.
So rather than speak, Obama will solemnly lay a wreath in memory of the thousands who died in the Sept. 11 attacks - with most TV networks carrying the ceremony live.
Obama will then meet privately with still-grieving mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters and spouses gathered in the crucible of America's pain.
"This visit is about thanking and I just want to thank him," Charles Wolf, whose wife Katherine was killed in the terror attack, and who will be meeting Obama for the first time, told MSNBC.
"This was a really gutsy decision that he did. I think it was the turning point of his presidency."
Obama has carved out three hours at Ground Zero. He will be joined there by New York Sens. Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, and Mayor Bloomberg and Gov. Cuomo.
He has also invited Rudy Giuliani and George Pataki, who were the mayor and governor during those dark days, sources said.

He would have been political suicide, if UBL slipped away.
Collecting intel, building an ultra-realistic mock-up of the compound, running the mission and the contingencies over and over and ****ing over. I know all to well why it took this long. But, let's don't act as if Obama got the intel and reacted immediately. Afterall, he did have to sleep on it the other night. That doesn't exactly bode decisiveness.
Really? SO taking the first option is always preferable to waiting for the best option to present itself?
Oh please....you know EXACTLY what you were saying...if you "understand far more" than I do and how the "train-up to this operation was a mother****er"..then maybe you would understand perhaps....just perhaps.....when they acted.....it was ASAP.
it was the exact same option set both times. look, again, he made the right call this time - good on him. but this is still the guy who takes a long time to come to a decision.
however, to address your question; yes, actually, in a military conflict it is usually better to aggressively pursue the sorta-good plan that you have today than to wait and hope for better options to arrive tomorrow.
ASAP was meant to sound as if all this was decided upon, planned and executed in a matter of a few days. That's not the case.
If it was so ASAP, then why did Obama have to sleep on it?
Really? SO taking the first option is always preferable to waiting for the best option to present itself?
ASAP can mean as soon as it is reasonably and prudently possible to act. You can act ASAP without reacting momentarily.
He just made a small speech at the firehouse, but he mostly thanked the firefighters for their service to the community. He didn't make any arrogant statements about himself.
I guess he isn't giving a speech at ground zero, but he is just going to lay a wreath.
There is a thread for political cartoons... I can't help but notice this is like the 5th or 6th one you have posted in the thread, and some were repeats.
It can, but that's not what the Libbos would have us believe. Let's face it, Obama isn't the hero here, no matter how many times you say that he is.
No one has said that he is
...in fact, most of us have said that the vast majority of the credit goes to the men and women of the military.
So apparently you had all the military intelligence that was available, such that you are able to make that determination? Wow...where did you get that level of high security clearance?
Is that why you claim that Bush's policies had nothing to do with UBL's termination?
You are absolutely correct. If GWmushforbrains hadn't let OBL escape at Tora Bora, there would have been nothing to terminate.
Don't forget the CIA. Ultimately, they're the folks that gather this kind of intel. You know...the same CIA that Obama is trying to prosecute. In fact, you are praising the same SEAL team operators that are currently being court martialed for smacking around a couple of prisoners.
I say send a Seal team to the ranch, pick W. up, and bring him to Manhattan.
Exactly what I was wondering. Especially since I got my information from an article, giving specifics as to why he avoided taking the other (read: different) actions.
As I stated earlier, in an ironic twist of fate, I went down to NYC to stand in place of my cousin who lost his father, my Uncle, When my aunt asked me, I could not say no, and would proudly stand for my cousin, who is serving overseas right now. My aunt was one of the select group that was to meet with the president.
And all I'd like to say about my experience here, is I was wrong, He came, he respected the fallen, and he met graciously with the families, I can not fault the man with that. There was this woman, who asked him something, and seemed angry and upset, Obama looked uncomfortable, said something and turned away, other than that it was a rather emotional affair, one that I think he truly took to heart. So twice now, I tip my hat to the man, his trip was one about respect and remembrance. I respect him for it. Now this doesn't mean I agree with most of his ideas and things he has done, but on this day, I saw a gracious President, being, well very presidential and human at the same time.
That's all I got to say about it today, it's corona light day as well, and there is drinking to be done.
