Brexit: Where do Conservative leadership candidates stand?

Only the lib dems campaigned on remaining(referring to the 2015 election) and made it known, they wanted to remain. The Labour party pretty much ignored it, in attempt to be middle of the road. Some were saying Corbyn was even pro-brexit. Still, Corbyn focused on more bread and butter issues which, is something he was supposed to do, so good on him.

OK, you claimed one party lost 49 seats however the Lib Dem actually rose in the 2017 election by 4 seats.

May was dominating the polls, until she came out with her horrible manifesto, which pretty much said "vote for brexit, and give us your blood while you're at it". Corbyn, of course ran a high energy campaign against it, and closed the gap. The key though, is that he did NOT say anything against brexit, and as returns came in, you could see that many previous votes for UKIP went to labour. He was just 'pro brexit' enough to win over the anti-conservative vote and hold their traditional base in the north east. May had it in the bag, and she threw it.

Corbyn outperformed May but the Conservatives did attract some new voters who were previously Leave.

Does a cabinet really hold much power when the prime minister is against everything they do? When she resigned, Juncker was singing her praises. That's doesn't speak well of her brexit credentials. The EU should have absolutely hated her, for doing everything she could against them.

Tony Blair and Maggie Thatcher held more power than Theresa May or John Major. It's down to your parliamentary majority bacuse through sheer numbers you can overpower the numbers of rebels and the opposition. Theresa May has been vulnerable all through her leadership and relied on the DUP for support. The Brexiteers could at any time have put up an opposing candidate or even options when Parliament was allowed to debate or propose options. Have you ever asked yourself why they didn't take the opportunity?

The ERG and Eurosceptic tribe in the Conservative party is actually pretty large at over 94 members. Moderate or even Remain Conservatives are the lowest number in the party.

Fanfare in a Carry On style! Now we have the actual 10 candidates:

Environment Secretary Michael Gove
Health Secretary Matt Hancock
Former Chief Whip Mark Harper
Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt
Home Secretary Sajid Javid
Former Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson
Former Leader of the House Andrea Leadsom
Former Work and Pensions Secretary Esther McVey
Former Brexit Secretary Dominic Raab
International Development Secretary Rory Stewart

If Boris makes it onto the final 2, then King Boris, barring yet another wrinkle of Tory insanity. But starting off with so many ferrets in the sack makes the route from a to b very uncertain.

Since Esther McNasty made her pitch today next to a photo of Maggie in a cult-of-Lenin style, let us take a trip down memory lane and consider the 3 candidates on the second ballot in 1990 to succeed her: John Major, Michael Heseltine, Douglas Hurd. 29 years on and getting any one of them back would be a better option than what The Tory Party's Got Talent! has dredged up for us this season.

send her South of Birmingham to find Leeds, and she'll wander forever lost in the abysses of her confusion.

She is a good argument for building a big wall around Liverpool. And the Wirral.

Dreamland for sure.

What is totally excluded from the fantasies of their apparent snooze is that it doesn't matter a damn at this stage what Brussels is going to do wrt to any new PM and wrt to October-31.

For one thing Brussels will soon be closed for business pretty soon (Summer holidays) and for another nobody there is much bothered anyway, not as long as the UK continues with its primary policy of self-analysis.

Probably still being without any result in years to come.

Proroguing parliament so as to circumnavigate its well-known opposition to "no-deal", ferchrissake. And these twits constantly invoke the concept of democracy.
