I blame the parents for his actions, in addition to him.
The lack of discipline, lack of taught morals and social obligations, and the lack of teaching kids right and wrong is a serious problem.
Children are a primarily function of their environment - if their parents are not involved, we get crap like this.
I have two daughters, one in her final year of college, the other a senior in high school (Not all that far from Marysville actually). Like you, it takes my breath away like a knee to the groin when I hear these innocent young kids are dying in school. Where it's supposed to be safe.
Those parents lost their child and their lives, and those of their entire families are ruined. For what?
It's not always possible for parents to be involved enough. Teens have a long history of doing stuff outside the watchful eye of their parents and generally have a life outside that of their immediate family. They're experimenting with all kinds of stuff that they don't want parental feedback on and unless you lock your kid in the basement there will be some stuff that you just never know about no matter how good a parent you are. Add in all the social media stuff we have today and the kids have a whole lot more opportunities to make bad decisions than we did before all this gadgetry became available.
It is always "unexpected." The reality is that no sane person does this. I just wonder why kids are resorting to these extreme actions over petty BS? I noticed some kids are reacting more and more unreasonably to breakups. I wonder if it is an entitled attitude to some degree?
I mean kids think they deserve a relationship. There is the "friend zone" mentality too. It seems kids today aren't learning coping mechanisms like they used too.

Greeting, Lutherf. :2wave:
When I think back, I'm actually amazed that so many of us survived! Meeting places changed, but the kids from all the various high schools went swimming at night in a dangerous abandoned sand and gravel pit that was God knows how deep, but was reputed to have bulldozers in there somewhere. I'm certain my parents didn't know - I sure didn't tell them! I try not to think about what my kids might have been doing at the same age - I didn't ask, and they didn't volunteer. Maybe one day I'll hear things while we're drinking enough margaritas, but who knows? At least we weren't out destroying other people's property, though, like so many seem to find fun doing these days! We knew better than that......
This is a common anti gun meme that is so fundamentally wrong in its thinking that one barely knows where to start...But I see you as a reasonably educated man Boo, if not exasperating in the concept of being able to understand that which disagrees with your own world view in terms of ideology, or ability to open your mind to the concept that your ideology may be reflexively wrong on anything. In any case, even though you will probably dismiss this, I would like you to consider, if you can this quote, and tell me why YOU, should have the hubris to tell ME that I don't posses the right to self defense with the legal weapon of MY choice...
"The underpinnings of the classical liberal belief in an armed people are obscure to us because we are not accustomed to thinking about political issues in criminological terms. But the classical liberal worldview was criminological, for lack of a better word. It held that good citizens must always be prepared to defend themselves and their society against criminal usurpation - a characterization no less applicable to tyrannical ministers or pillaging foreign or domestic soldiery (who were, in point of fact, largely composed of criminals inducted from gaols [9] ) than to apolitical outlaws.
To natural law philosophers, self-defense was "the primary law of nature", the primary reason for man entering society. [10] Indeed, it was viewed as not just a right but a positive duty: God gives Man both life and the means to defend it; the refusal to do so reviles God's gift; in effect it is a Judeo- Christian form of hubris. Indicative of the intellectual gulf between that era and our own is that Montesquieu could rhetorically ask a question that today might be seriously posed, "Who does not see that self-protection is a duty superior to every precept?" [11]"

Yes. The world is different. Invasion isn't as much of a threat as someone breaking into my home or robbing me in the street. So my rights should reflect that...people deserve the right to defend themselves.
Not only defense of the country, but defense from the country. As the saying goes, the more things change, the more they stay the same. They saw the government as a solution, and as a problem.
Well, your gun won't do that. You're out gunned and out manned. You better have a plan B.
.Honest answer? Most people won't like it.
We've spent close to 40 years teaching children....
... that they're super-special snowflakes who are entitled to everything good...
... that they're just highly evolved animals, not immortal souls...
... that there is no God, or if there is there is no judgment by him...
... that it is okay to kill innocent babies in the womb if they are inconvenient...
.... that things like the 10 Commandments are outdated and all morality is relative....
... and then we wonder why stuff like this happens?
.Yep
The disconnect from God is something thats relatively new.
.Being Christians, my children understand the value of life.
.
.As a Christian I see a World corrupted by the Devil-Evil. But the Devil corrupts through men and men have corrupted this world outright.
I hate to think of a kid who only has the examples of human mistakes built up over thousands of years to guide him through his toughest times.
Like I said, its a lonely and tragic way to live.
.
ummm
no ...its not
.
"the TERM "atheism" originated in the sixteenth century – based on Ancient Greek ἄθεος "godless, denying the gods
atheistic ideas, as well as their political influence, have an expansive history. Over the centuries, atheists have arrived at their point of view through a variety of avenues, including scientific, philosophical and ideological notions
Philosophical atheist thought began to appear in Europe and Asia in the sixth or fifth century BCE. Will Durant explains that certain pygmy tribes found in Africa were observed to have no identifiable cults or rites. There were no totems, no deities, and no spirits. Their dead were buried without special ceremonies or accompanying items and received no further attention. They even appeared to lack all simple superstitions,
the anti gun clowns trying to pass a moronic intrusive "universal background check" will claim tis incident is why such a stupid law is needed (even though it has nothing to do with a kid committing first degree murder)
.
whereas non Christians ...do not?
.
actually
no it isn't
ive never believed in your gawd their gods or the others
....its neither lonely nor tragic...I assure you...more like an unshackling
that's idiotic.
In a tragedy with many echoes elsewhere, a teacher at a school in Viljandi was fatally shot by a student today.
The student, aged 15, has been apprehended by the police. Police has confirmed that all the children are safe and have now been returned to their parents. Police combed through the school as a precautionary measure but found nothing suspicious.
Table 6.1: An overview of gun regulations for civilians in several countries.
Country Automatic Firearms Semi-Automatic Firearms Handguns Self-Defense
Estonia Prohibited Restricted Restricted Yes
U.S.A. Allowed Allowed Allowed Yes
The statement was not about the shooter, but general observations..
I'm thinkin maybe your first point has merit
the rest are simply a misguided/slanted viewpoint
you have absolutely no idea if the child believed or not
.As I noted, he doesn't believe the hate filled crap he spews at gun owners. IF he did, he'd be too scared to spew it
.
because you might pull your pistolaros?
at a simple perceived slight?
is this whats meant by defending home and family?
is this your reason for having said firearms?

.Atheist are just as dependant on faith as any God fearing individual.
They use " Science " as a justification but haven't through Science justified their beliefs.
That's because Science doesn't prove or disprove the existence of a creator.
If anything the Scientific study of the origins if our Universe point to the existence of a creator far more than it denies the existence of a creator.
