A great start for the citizens of Brazil. The ability to defend themselves and their family.

Brazil's Bolsonaro signs decree easing gun laws

https://www.france24.com/en/20190115-brazil-president-bolsonaro-decree-gun-laws-crime

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro on Tuesday signed a decree that will temporarily make it easier for Brazilians to buy guns, despite fears the move could aggravate already staggering violent crime.

The executive order, signed in a live television broadcast following a cabinet meeting, allows "good citizens" to more easily own firearms, said Bolsonaro, a former army captain.

"To guarantee the legitimate right of defense, as president I am using this weapon," he said, indicating the pen he then used to sign the decree.

The far-right president ran on a law-and-order platform. His message resonated with voters in Brazil, which in 2017 had a record 64,000 murders, more than any other country.

Tuesday's decree makes it much easier for adults with no criminal record to buy guns and keep them at home.

Brazil makes it easier to get guns....

Hmmm...would that mean more guns in Brazilian society ?

Like introducing more whisky into a student party....

There are only 8.3 guns per 100 Brazilians and the country actually has fairly strict gun laws. Despite this, the homicide rate in Brazil in 2017 was 32.4 per 100,000. By comparison, America has one of 5, Canada is 1.68, Mexico is almost 20, and Colombia is 25. Even though Brazil is only 6th in population, it's first in the number of murders in 2016 with 61,283.

you tend to lump criminals with good people because you see armed citizens more harmful to your politics than you see armed criminals to your safety.

The gun laws you pine for, only make it harder for honest people to defend themselves

Brazil needs more guns rights what with their crime rate being sky high.

Look out lefties! Common sense is beginning to wake up in other areas around the globe as well.

So if I'm understanding this correct it will ease the restrictions for someone to own a gun for home protection. There are still laws limiting who can carry a gun. Does anyone know if there will be a safe storage requirement?

Didn't you know more legal gun ownership equals more gun crime. Because of that makes perfect sense.
