It's not JUST that....it's his tariffs (especially on Brazil imports) clash with his domestic policy goals.
Put simply, Brazil will retaliate with its own tariffs on US imports....one of which is coal. Indeed, Brazil imports (from the US) about 7-8% of the US's total coal exports. So Brazil is a major market for US domestic coal producers.
You know, coal, the domestic industry Trump is trying to revive/grow.
The result will be a smaller international coal market for US coal producers.
Oh it may well be much worse. Brazil could decide to convert those Coal Plants to Oil, and use Domestically produced Oil to run the boilers.
