Brazil’s former President Jair Bolsonaro has been found guilty of attempting to overturn the country’s 2022 election with a plot prosecutors say included plans to assassinate the president-elect in a bid to cling to power.

Four out of five justices on a Brazilian Supreme Court panel voted to convict Bolsonaro on all five counts in the landmark case, and to sentence him to 27 years and three months in prison.

Bolsonaro has been convicted ofplotting a coup d’état, taking part in an armed criminal organization, attempting to abolish Brazil’s democratic order by force, committing violent acts against state institutions and damaging protected public property during the storming of government buildings by his supporters on January 8, 2023.

Right wing goon gets his ass handed to him and justice served.
He tried to overthrow the government and his goons attacked the Brazilian Capitol.
Sounds familiar for some reason.
Looks like Trump‘s threats of Brazilian tariffs didn’t work . So sad.
 
Trump will have to now raise the tariff on coffee beans to 100% from the current 50% he cannot afford for the world to stary punishing leaders who cheat in an attempt to stay in power. Of course here in the States his Party protects him from any and all repercussions for trying to cheat to stay in power.
 
This event may relate to the continuing war in Gaza/West Bank and the belligerent actions of the President of the United States of America, Mr. Donald Trump.

That's because Brazil actually has a REAL Supreme Court instead of a rubber stamp for "dear leader".
Oops, should I have capitalized that?
