Bill Nye on 'once-in-a-lifetime' floods occurring three times this week

Does he have a science degree? No Mechanical Engineering, but kinda science but not weather.
My degree is from Bradley University and Master's from the University of Missouri.
Do you have a College degree?
You don't have to have a college degree to be intelligent. So just stop. People that rely upon their college degree to hit people over the head with it. Generally speaking, they're just not that smart. That's all they've got.

And yes I have a college degree. But that didn't teach me shit. Life did

Bill Nye, bachelors degree educated mechanical engineer, tells me three once in a lifetime floods have occurred

The masters degree educated petroleum engineer in me says ,"I guess they're not once in a lifetime".

You misunderstand the point he made.

You realize there are lots of comprehensive plans in place, right?

I realize that neither you, nor anyone else so far, has identified one.

False. I said:

You chose to defend the idiots who deny global warming but blame these extreme weather events exacerbated by global warming on democrats somehow controlling the weather.
It is Nye and perhaps you who think we can control weather events like hurricanes and flooding by subsidizing "green initiatives."

did he say you can "control" them that way? i'll need a quote.

yeah, that's kind of the point, duh.

statistically, events which historically only occurred very rarely (and hence are described in laymen's terms as "once in a lifetime") are now occurring more frequently.

The destructive power of these floods are a direct result of global warming and they are only going to get worse and more frequent. What a great time to cut the budgets of the NWS and NOAA and green energy initiatives. The harm that will come from these foolish moves will be hellish .

So essentially The Alex Jones of the left opens his mouth. He's a TV host. He doesn't know anything about energy

Bill Nye and you are missing the point. A 100-year flood doesn't mean it only happens once every 100 years never meant that.

Bill Nye is a quack. Complete loon.
He's the Alex Jones of the left he's nuts. Just imagine him saying something about putting criminals in the water that turn the freaking frogs gay.

But that wound up being true so I guess he's lower on The credibility scale than Alex Jones

He's more legit being a double for Pee-Wee Herman,

Where did I say he wasn't intelligent?
His specialty isn't weather.
Do you not see the irony of a President who is a former reality TV star and a spokesperson for a serious global issue being a former children's TV show host?

The flooding in Texas is not a once in a life time event. The area is known to locals as " flash flood alley". It's a known flood plain and should never be used for overnight stays.

The Guadalupe River has a history of flooding, with major events recorded in 1936, 1952, 1972, 1973, 1978, 1987, 1991, and 1997

As far as the value of a college degree, I don't disagree with you.

Hilarious, where did Nye get his science degree?

That said, the climate is changing and I'm sure humans are advancing it.
What did he get wrong?

Authorities have said the flood was comparable to a flood the area experienced in the 30’s.

See my post above your's
Yeah, you're glossing over what he said in favor of the current fiction based on your degree from...where again? The point is pretty obvious: these aren't normal weather events, they're getting more and more extreme, causing more death and destruction. They're talking about expanding hurricane classification to go past "5".

Conservatives lost the climate debate a long time ago.

The kooky dude needs to stay in his swim lane.

Last two years were record breakers for tornados in the Chicago Area. This year? There's literally been no storms.

You're looking to make personal attacks; you don't want to discuss anything as a balanced adult. But I'll continue with my point.

1) As I've posted, I don't deny global climate change. I do see the effects on my family's Ag business in the long-term record.
2) These (Guadalupe River) are not unusual events, and it's opportunistic to pin these previously occurring events on GCC. It weakens the science and truth in the long run.
3) Bill Nye has an uncommon definition of "once in a lifetime events," or he does not know the actual history of the Guadalupe River.

If GCC is going to cause the end of a human-friendly world in a short amount of time, we should do things such as close and ban all drive-through services immediately. We should shut down all retail for 1 or 2 days a week. And I am being serious. Waiting for the evolution of non-carbon energy isn't going to make it in time, according to the science I read.

You're looking to make personal attacks
You insisted he's not qualified to speak on this subject, you begged for just that kind of scrutiny. This was your first comment. Own your shit

He's not and he's wrong in this case.
You got nothing but shit. I feel for Brad.

Right, and your years of plowing have given you insight into this. Understood.

Poor Brad. He will never experience a logical discussion with you.

Bill Nye and you are missing the point. A 100-year flood doesn't mean it only happens once every 100 years never meant that.

It means such a flood should occur once every 100 years, so twice in 60 years is an anomaly. 3 times in 20 years likely means the estimate of once every 100 years is wrong
