Bill Maher complains that his taxes are too high

Maher is your typical liberal. His entire ideology is centered around what would be best for him.

He embraces libertarianism when it comes to drug use.

He embraces liberalism when it comes to increases his show ratings.

And when it comes to tax policy, conservatism doesn't seem so bad.

Well, Bill could have been joking. Second of all, it is not beneath Bill to say something for a few months and then tread back into familiar waters. His Ron Paul fetish lasted far less than a year before he was sipping the glory of Obama.

Hey, I totally wouldn't be surprised if it was taken out of context, but I surely wouldn't assert such without showing some evidence of such

Then why don't you just listen to the exchange? It's not hard to find with a google search.

"Pointing at Virginia’s former Republican Congressman Tom Davis, Maher said, “You know what? Rich people – I’m sure you’d agree with this – actually do pay the freight in this country.”

“I just saw these statistics,” he continued, “I mean, something like 70 percent. And here in California, I just want to say liberals – you could actually lose me. It’s outrageous what we’re paying – over 50 percent. I’m willing to pay my share, but yeah, it’s ridiculous.”

Because I wasn't the one arguing it was taken out of context. Usually it's expected a person making a claim needs to support their position

PS this is pretty much what I wrote in the post you just quoted

Ok?

That doesn't really seem to change much as far as meaning goes

No, I compared a poster's consternation over Maher's comments supposedly being taken out of context to Coulter's and Limbaugh's comments being taken out of context.

Yeah, as I said, you compared Maher to Fat Rush and The Coultergeist.

Actually that would make him your typical Libertarian.

hardly. I have never met a libertarian interested in injecting heroine yet many will argue for your right to do so.

what is truly funny is watching your ideology cave in when reality hits.

Like anytime the economy recedes. Environmentalists should be somewhat happy to see the country that produces the most pollution slow down on consumption which drives all the pollution. does that happen though? hell no. They go running to big government to stimulate the economy and produce, produce produce.

Maher is simply the left's version of Glen Beck/rush Limabaugh/coultergeist/all the other right wing hate mongers and neanderthals. Who cares what he thinks?

Many do and rightly so, as he's a mouthpiece for the Socialists.
Of course the socialists don't like this... hence posts like yours above... wishing he would go away.

I like Maher for all the idiocy he spews from his yap. I wished abc had kept him. He should have had his show reach more people so they could see what the moronic left stands for.

I'm a liberal that thinks we should raise taxes, and I agree with him, even though I don't like the guy or watch his show (if he's still on tv, not sure).

I think someone paying 60% is over doing it. I'd be in favor of capping an individuals tax at 40% or 50% (including state taxes, federal taxes). Honestly I doubt him when he says he pays that much in taxes though. Generally when someone gives out a very high number like that, they'll never actually back up their assertion, but if he is, it's too high.

With that said, you have the other end of the spectrum where you have people earning millions and paying close to 10%. Or big corporations paying absolutely nothing. I don't want to just do a blanket tax raise. I'm in favor of cutting all the loopholes, which is impossible in washington now, too much special interest money, and letting all the high income people pay a more even amount.

For what reason should the government take 40% or more of someone's wealth?

Because they are so effective at redistributing it?
Because they need to knock people down?
Because they want to stifle upward mobility?
Because the government wants to slow growth?
Because breeding class warfare is a good thing?

I'm curious... why?

At no point did I argue that the government should be able to take someone's wealth. I only argued that we should institute a max income tax rate so that no one pays over that amount. The way you phrase it your are implying that it is theft or that I'm arguing for taking existing money that they had saved up (IE: Wealth). I'm not arguing this but I'll be glad to answer you if you ask a less biased and more honest question.

Sure you did... here is the quote:

I think that level of taxation putrid beyond belief. We had a nation founded on limited government, and with it maximum Liberty. For what reason does the government require 40% of someone's wealth? It harms society, and we just have to look at the class warfare poison spewed by the Democrat/Socialist Party as exhibit A1 to what this poison has done.

So... why not answer the question(s)?

As long as you are continuing to try to associate taxing with theft I have no reason to respond. Also, your talking points at the end only confirm my suspicion that you really aren't interested in discussion, but are more concerned with throwing around baseless accusations.
