That so many of them waited so long makes me fear that these were really people trying to sleep their way to the top and now have sour grapes about it. I mean Janice Dickerson certainly could have spoken about it for decades and it just feels like she is now trying to reignite interest in herself for the public.
There's no "payday" here.
Most of the accusations happened long enough ago there's no way to prosecute. There's no evidence. The incident is past the statute of limitations.
This isn't about money.
I know a guy from my college years who worked on a set with Cosby a few decades ago. He said Cosby was an angry, pretentious ass and made no bones about getting people fired from the jobs they had.
He said he is not shocked by the allegations. The Cosby he saw "behind the scenes" was not the Cosby most people saw on TV.
She says although she never saw Bill drink or do drugs, he often had "a drawer full of drugs," including Quaaludes, in his hotel room.
mmons tells us ... one night she got a bad migraine and Cosby offered her a whilte pill which he said "was a little strong" but could cure a headache.
She says she took the pill, blacked out, and the next thing she knew she was nude in bed in Cosby's suite with one of his friends -- a guy who had unsuccessfully tried hitting on her earlier in the evening.
This is plausible. But, if so, then were the sexual incidents honestly rape, or did the 'victims' concede to them in the interests of furthering their careers?
If it's not about money, what is it about? You are referring to criminal statute of limitations. IIRC, there are no limitations in civil cases. If not, they can sue for money... i.e. "payday"... any time they like. Plus, the necessary evidence needed for a civil case is far less than for a criminal case. There also may be the hopes of a monetary settlement without even going to trial. There's no "payday" here.

No offense, but that made me chuckle. You obviously have more faith in people's motivations than I do.Perhaps it's just about exposing the TRUTH.
Cosby doesn't need to pay anyone anything. He can, and has ignored all but one incident as far as I know.
Again. There's no proof of anything. Most situations were decades ago. Not just a few months ago.

Or it could mean finally someone will finally believe them. Cosby apparently picked well, young, easily influenced and just as easily discounted women.
Veteran NBC employee Frank Scotti says he helped Bill Cosby deliver thousands of dollars to eight different women in 1989-90 - including Shawn Thompson, whose daughter Autumn Jackson claimed the actor was her dad. The ex-aide also tells the Daily News he stood guard whenever Cosby invited young models to his dressing room, which eventually led him to quitting after years on the job.
The 90-year-old Scotti said he decided to speak as the drumbeat of sexual abuse allegations against Cosby, 77, grew steadily louder. “I felt sorry for the women,” he told The News.

Wendy Williams recently spoke on her show how he was rude to her and tried to get her fired once. Guess nobody ever put him in his place all these yrs. I do feel bad for the cast of the Cosby show. No more residuals for them.
The counterpoint would be that most men are not famous and rich.This....
Power corrupts....
I read the lengthy WaPo piece on the accusations and the more I read, the more troubled I am. There seem to be too many people who recall the accusers' complaints 20+ years ago. Even sifting through stories (for example, I'd take with a grain of salt anything pathetic attention whore Janice Dickinson bandwagoned about), the pills are a recurring detail.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — A model who claims Bill Cosby drugged and sexually abused her at the Playboy Mansion met with Los Angeles police on Wednesday to pursue criminal charges against the comedian over the 2008 incident.
An attorney for Chloe Goins said after the meeting that his client is the first woman accusing Cosby of sexual misconduct whose case may fall within the statute of limitations
18 women?
The guy is a serial rapist and should be shot.
hollywood, gives pedophile woody allen a pass, another one that needs to be put down.
I've discussed this at length and I have my doubts on the innocence of Cosby, however, the numbers aren't all that relevant. What is important is that initially, all of the Jane Does (initially unidentified women, I'm not talking about the ones who went on TV after) shared the same stories. People don't just start calling anyone a ****ing rapist and telling the same god damn story about that person in different places. He either did some **** to them, or they're colluding - as of right now, I have seen no evidence that any of these women even knew of each other.
In other threads you rail against overreach of the judicial system, then here you advocate execution without a a trial to prove guilt?18 women?

Their fault (for waiting to say anything), not his. That's my position, There is no way these women are colluding, and cosby is not a polarizing enough character that anyone would CARE to make such accusations if they weren't true. there is no motivation in coming forward.
hell he can't even be prosecuted for these.

That's pretty much it. Monica Lewinski is probably the last person who ever got famous from a sex scandal. There just isn't anything to be gained from that **** anymore. So why come forward when he can't be prosecuted, when you won't get famous and when there is no money to be made? I think a lot of these women really are telling stories that put Cosby is a ****ed up light. However, there is also a segment within the right that doesn't want to even acknowledge that Cosby may be a rapist, because then they'd need to find another black guy to parade when they want to get all self righteous about what they believe blacks in the US should do. As such, I doubt this will ever leave the light of simple gossip.
