"For residents of the Big Island of Hawaii, Friday was a day of fraught nerves as a strong earthquake shook their homes, which are increasingly threatened by a volcanic eruption that doesn't show any signs of slowing down. The magnitude 6.9 temblor that jolted the island was one of more than 110 earthquakes in just 24 hours. It knocked out power to some residents who were already dealing with mandatory evacuation orders, molten rock and high levels of sulfur dioxide in the air.
The situation wasn't getting any better, Civil Defense Administrator Talmadge Magno told reporters Friday afternoon.
"Activity continues. It doesn't look like it is slowing down," he said."

I know that area really well. Its fast moving underground lava. Happy that Pahoa isn't in much danger, but there is a lot of area that could be messed up. Was looking at going over there next week, maybe not now....

I hope everyone survives. We are so helpless in the face of these events.

Its not a big overland lava flow, its coming underground, and making fissures. They had a 6.9 earthquake this afternoon.

Madam Pele needs to be heard from time to time.

That's not a happy island.

Its just the Puna area that is always in danger, but it is such a beautiful area, great nude black sand beach, an amazing thermal pool that is heated from the geothermal heat. Lush, kicked back area, and Pahoa is such a cool little town. My favorite area in the state.

I used to go there 5-6 times a year. I am actually looking at going next week, empty planes over and back. I love Kauai, but I really love the Hilo/Puna area. So many good memories, I know a lot of places that the touristas don't know about... :)

A 6.9 quake today, biggest in 40 years there, they could feel it in Kauai. A couple in the 4's and 5's too. They closed off a lot of beaches on the Hilo side as there was some receding water, but no tsunami, thankfully.

When Hawaii is finally destroyed by Mom Nature, will the US say, "Okay, now you can have the lands that we stole from you back, but don't expect any money for assistance because you're not a state anymore."?

Only the island of Hawaii has active volcanoes. And a new island is being formed under the sea, as we speak.

Hawaii is being built, one island at a time. You need to get out of conspiracy books and pick one up on geology sometime.

So is there an easy way to find the Nude Beach? Is there a name of a nearby shop or restaurant, that would know the directions?

You're advancing that the US won't ever give back the lands they stole from the Hawaiian people. And you need to recognize tongue in cheek. Of course I knew that would never happen. Have you ever seen the Mafia willing give back what they steal?

Hawaii is part of the US leading many to wonder if this eruption is simply just a False Flag Operation

Let the Hawaiian people open casinos. That should appease them.

Ha, the first time I found the nude beach was by accident. Best way to find beaches in Hawaii is to look for cars parked on the side of the road...then you know something is there. Google Kehana black sand beach, that is the nude one, the surf can be tough, or good, depends on conditions.. Other amazing beach requires a 45 minute easy hike, Shipman/Ha'ena beach. Its is in front of a huge estate and all the land behind the beach is private, but the beach isn't. Lots of good beaches on Kona side, my favorite is 69 beach (Wailea), right next to Neil Young's big beachfront estate. Also, drive a mile or two on a rough lava trail to Mahai'ula beach, a huge empty beach, lots of turtles, and head up the trail for half a mile to Makalawana, but you need good shoes and lots of water, it gets hot walking on crushed black lava.

In Pahoa, there is a killer Thai place and several health food establishments, the town is small and mostly made up of grown up hippies.

When will the Vietnamese communists give back the land they stole from the Hmong?
