kill the chill!!
Over the last several months, meanwhile, the DOE has introduced a series of energy efficiency regulations impacting various home appliances including gas stoves, ovens, clothes washers and refrigerators. Critics have blasted the rules as federal overreach and unnecessary given that the industry has improved technology without government intervention.

"What these mandates, what these standards, do is enforce a level of efficiency that doesn't make sense," Ben Lieberman, a senior fellow at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, told Fox News Digital in an interview last week. "And they compromise product quality. We've already seen this to an extent with cost of clothes washer standards."

"That's another problem — this is a regulatory program that's very long in the tooth and you're getting to the point where clothes washers — this might be the fifth time they've been regulated," he continued. "So we're really chasing after diminishing or nonexistent marginal returns."

Their philosophy is energy efficiency at all costs or energy efficiency no matter the cost," the official said. "That means we are going to see, as a result of their efficiency standards, higher-priced appliances. It's that simple."

My question is...what changed? Why are they now being honest?

They first said they were coming after gas stoves. The public reacted badly and they walked it back, saying no, nobody is coming after gas stoves. But now, they say they are.

What changed?

And...with everything they say, then deny, then say...why should anyone trust them?

You do know that the gas stove issue was overblown to the point of lying by Faux and elected R's. Just like the burger scare. Do you still have the ability to buy ground round?

LOL
'War on Appliances'?
Regulations to make sure these appliances are safe and efficient is a good thing.
Who would I trust more to make sure these things are done....... a corporation whose driving force is a higher profit margin or the regulatory agency whose driving force is consumer safety?

The people freaking out about the regulations have absolutely no idea what model of AC they have, or if it's compliant. Nor do they have any particular commitment to getting the same model when it's time to get a new one. Some people just like to impotently whine about things.

they ARE energy "efficient" these are arbitrary standards to make them more so, but then you give up quality and add costs.
lots of costs..lighter material are less quality and so forth.

And as the article mentions manufactures have been doing this
( trying to reduce materials and weights on their own -reducing their costs) but they can only go so far so fast

Wow.

You righties really are suffering from Biden Derangement Syndrome….

Seriously though. Leave it to the right to argue against a policy that will help maximize their dollars in energy bills to the point of not paying as much as they have during a time of inflation.

the added upfront costs of the energy savings system - along with inflation make them more difficult to purchase

I remember the War on Christmas which, sadly, was won by the evil lib-progs, i.e. Democrats, though we in the MAGAsphere fought like hell. No one can use the word Christmas anymore.

Now we are fighting against the commies in a war on appliances. I hope we can staunch the bleeding and win this fight.

MAGA.

I can't believe you even typed the C-word! They will come for you.

Safe and efficient....to the point they are useless.

Bozo Biden wants to muck around with washing machines, and you've got the appliance industry saying it will make clothes less clean.

"War on appliances" :ROFLMAO:

Man, you just can't tax Fox fans seriously. They obviously don't take themselves that way.

Fox writes a headline an article that can be summarized as "libruls are poopy". Their fans run here to copy/paste. And then if you waste the time to read the article you see that it either contradicts its headline, or it's something like Fox cited two random persons' tweets as proof of what all of "the left" thinks.

I have a SEER 13 rated model that was installed less then a year ago and a modern digital thermostat. I am fine.

Now, if he comes for my crockpot ...

Pros: High-efficiency top-load washers and front-load washers use less water.

Cons: Long wash times. Since they use less water, many HE top-loaders take 60 to 90 minutes to wash an 8-pound load. Front-loaders take about 75 to 100 minutes to do the same amount of laundry.

Pros: HE top-load washers and front-load washers clean clothes better.

Cons: HE washers may not clean highly soiled clothing or baby cloth diapers thoroughly. It all depends on the wash cycle, amount of water used, and the make and model.

Pros: HE top-load washers and front-load washers spin quicker than regular top-loaders with agitators in the center.

Cons: HE top-loaders spin quicker to remove more water than traditional top-loaders, but waterproof laundry can heighten the risk of loads likely being unbalanced in many HE washing machines. This can cause excessive vibrating and possibly damage.

Pros: HE washers require less water and therefore use less detergent than traditional machines.

Cons: HE washing machines require lower sudsing HE detergent. Because these washers use less water, suds caused by traditional laundry detergent may not be completely rinsed out.

"I have dry spots after I pull my clothes out of the washing machine... because it won't fill up with enough water and it's not getting all my clothes wet," says Ed.

Ed says he's tried a bunch of different detergents, but it hasn't made a difference.
"Here's the feature, deep water, they want you to use," says Ed.

Ed says he's tried using the maximum water feature. But after it fills up:
"Look at the water in there, almost none," says Ed.

Whirlpool explains these machines are designed to save money, adding water based on the weight of the clothes. But online forums and Amazon reviews, are filled with hundreds of complaints involving similar high efficiency top load washing machines.

After contacting the store where Ed bought his washing machine, they agreed to let him swap it for another washer. As for Whirlpool, the company says it's now investigating Ed's complaints

And the Bozo appliance industry will say anything against anything that cuts into their bottom line.
I would not trust them.

Oh noes! My appliances will be … energy efficient?

Oh the humanity!

I do believe it is how democrats / progressive / liberals 'do' their politics. Say one thing to the public, and behind the scenes, largely unreported, do what they want anyway.

And...with everything they say, then deny, then say...why should anyone trust them?
Obviously you should never trust democrats / progressive / liberals, especially in what they say, they haven't earned any trust with their track record.

And the Bozo appliance industry will say anything against anything that cuts into their bottom line.
I would not trust them.
Then maybe you'll trust consumers who complain that their "environment friendly" dishwashers and washing machines suck.

I get commercial grade equipment anymore. It just works and works well.
