A political leader who doesn't pass the buck. How refreshing.

Biden maintained he would have beaten Trump had he stayed in the race, but, when asked, said he accepted some blame for the election outcome because of voter concerns about border security and the cost of living during his tenure.

"I do, because, look, I was in charge and he won. So, you know, I take responsibility," the former president said.

Though Biden went on to criticize Trump's role in bringing down a bipartisan border bill and to tout the state of the economy at the end of his term, including investments made in infrastructure and health care that he said would boost the country's future.

Would have been nice if he'd just put his ego aside 3 years ago and agreed he wasn't running and that he was turning the party and country over to a new generation of leadership. He'll always be remembered for that, as he should be. And I say that as someone who believes he has had a good record as a public servant, but between he and Ginsburg, just, God damn did they run the train off the rails at the end.

Right. And then he blamed Harris' loss on racism and sexism.

Biden on Harris' loss: 'Disappointed but not surprised'

Biden was asked for his reaction to the 2024 election outcome and whether he was surprised when Harris lost.

"I was disappointed but not surprised," Biden said. He went on to suggest sexism and racism played a role in her defeat: "They went the sexist route."

"I've never seen quite as successful and consistent campaign undercutting the notion that a woman couldn't lead the country, and a woman of mixed race," he said.

Look, we've already been through the excuses. We don't need Joe to wake up and talk about something that doesn't matter anymore. He didn't win. Harris didn't win. Trump won.

End of story.

Go back to sleep, Joe.

Did he hit a nerve?

and rejects reports of cognitive decline

Is this the sorry, not sorry approach to taking the blame?

Also, he's at the end of his extremely long political career and retired a millionaire, having used his last few days in office giving blanket pardons to his relatives. Taking the blame ain't exactly brave and beautiful at this point.

LOL about a Trumper accusing a politician of not being "brave and beautiful". Oy vey.

Sort of a backhanded swipe at Harris.

Sure, let's go back to Roe, take away guns with World War looming and swim against boys.

Who's going to go for such a cockamaney platform?

Sort of a backhanded swipe at Harris.

It is.

Remember, America has never elected a woman president and Trump has never beat a man in a presidential election.

This implies that beating a woman in a presidential race is somehow less impressive than beating a man, which reinforces sexist assumptions about women being weaker.

That wasn't my takeaway from his post.

The Democratic party was a dumpster fire. The only fire extinguisher they had was TDS.

Bingo. Glad he beat Donald's ass in 2020 but Biden should have kept his promise to not run for re-election.

"Trump has never beat a man in a presidential election."

Does that not imply that men are more difficult to beat than women?

Or it implies a female candidate is easier to beat in a POTUS election because a significant number of Americans won't vote for a woman, which reinforces assumptions about them being sexist.

Biden accomplished quite a lot during his presidency. Not the least was the Infrastructure bill, the CHIPS Act and an economy that was the envy of the world.

He should have rested on his laurels, enjoyed it and passed the baton. He'd be remembered quite differently right now if he had. Even the idiots who said the economy was bad would be singing his praises now that Trump is in office.
