He has alienated quite a lot of independents who once supported him by his very unpresidential behavior, his throwing of temper tantrums, his name calling like a four year old spoiled brat who's parents forgot to teach him any manners. I'm a political realist, right now, at this point in time this election isn't about policy. I'm taking independents, swing voters, the non-affiliated. With those who identify themselves with either party, it probably is about policy and or love and hate of Trump. But to independents, right now it's about Trump's distasteful personality, his unpresidential behavior, his WWE in your face persona. It's become a who cares about immigration for quite a lot of independents. It's we don't want this schoolyard bully as president anymore. Especially among those 12% who voted third party against both Trump and Hillary in 2016. They're moving to Biden. The lone adult in the room.

For you perhaps. But not for that sizable group of voters called independents. For the Democrats, this election is about something entirely different. Each individual has their own reasons, their own issues, their own perspectives. But what I have found studying independents. I don't bother to study Republicans and Democrats because I know how they'll vote. They're basically irrelevant, they vote for the R and or the D, period. They may say it's about issues, but it isn't. It's about party loyalty.

Back to independents, what bothers them the most about Trump. It isn't his policies, they fairly split on those. For some, against some, indifferent and don't care about quite a lot of others. What bothers them is Trump the man, the individual, the person. His very unpresidential behavior and having a habit of making people dislike him.

Abortion, homosexuality, most independents don't care one way or the other about those issues. They're not important to them. If they were, they'd be Republicans and Democrats. What they do care about is that they see both major parties, one moving to the extreme right and the other to the extreme left and they hate that. They want both parties to work together, to compromise and play the game of give and take. None of this my way or the highway. They want to put polarization and ultra high partisanship behind us. Not encourage it as Trump has.

There's plenty of reasons why independents have grown from 30% of the electorate in 2006 to 40% today as both major parties have shrunk. Party above country is a big one, loyalty to party over the nation, another. Putting a reasonable adult into the White House instead of a thin skin, big mouth, name caller, temper tantrum thrower, egotist is important to quite a lot independents. They may not care much for Biden, but as of now, he seems to be the only adult in the room or at least running for the presidency.

But elections are won or lost due to the opinions and feelings of the voters. Those we elect are the ones who legislative our laws in accordance with the constitution. A majority of citizens decide via the vote who will be our elected leaders, thus giving them the authority to pass legislation and to make our laws. If you quality that as mob rule, in a way, I suppose it is. It's certainly rule by the majority which the majority of elected leaders being decided by the people.

The problem is the Republicans choose an obnoxcious blowhard as their nominee back in 2016 who happened to win the presidential election. Over the course of the next four years after his election, that blowhard turned quite a few voters who voted for him off by his very distasteful antics, his name calling, his throwing of temper tantrums etc. It seems at the moment a majority of the people have decided they don't want this schoolyard bully to have a second term.

I do think if the GOP had nominated a Kasich or a Rubio back in 2016, either one would have beat Hillary by 10 points. Either one probably would be headed toward a fairly easy reelection based on their more adult, tactful, mannered personality. Their behavior more presidential than that of a spoiled brat.

But it is what it is. Life is full of choices and at times all of us must reap and take the repercussions of the choices we make and made. The GOP made a huge mistake in nominating Trump, now it seems they will have to pay the price for that. It was their choice.

If the government is supporting your version of protestant Christianity that means that both religious clauses of the First Amendment are being violated, which is unconstitutional. The government cannot exhibit favoritism to one religion or sect over the others because all religions and sects are to have equal rights and the government cannot show favoritism to religious belief over non belief because that violates the Establishment clause and lessen the religious and secular rights of those of us who do not believe. Thomas Jefferson was amendment that the rights o in the US Constitution apply to all people and all beliefs equally.
