Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona on Friday sent a letter to DeSantis and the Florida education commissioner saying school districts can at their “sole and complete discretion” use federal funds to pay the salaries of administrators and board members withheld by the state for defying the order.

“We are eager to partner with [the Florida Department of Education] on any efforts to further our shared goals of protecting the health and safety of students and educators,” Cardona wrote.

Good for President Biden. DeathSantis is a threat to his state and the schools there.

The initial instinct is to say "good on 'em", but I can see DeSantis trying to use this sort of thing (bans if schools do X; coming up next..if they teach A,B,C) to shunt financial responsibility for the FL school system onto the federal government....

....which we all know generally runs on blue state money plus borrowing. (That is, blue states on average send in much more than they get back in federal spending. Vice versa for red states)
