Biden is unveiling the American Climate Corps, a program with echoes of the New Deal

In Kentucky, Montana, Texas & West Virginia GQP officials have passed laws to restrict government pension funds from investing in non fossil energy, veering away from free market ideas, to protect the oil & gas companies who are the biggest donors to their campaigns. To be clear, the Right is so deep in beed with the coal & oil companies, that attempts have been made to give preference to fossil fuels over renewables in building now generation plants, even if the cost to consumers are higher, such a bill was recently defeated in Texas, who by the way is the biggest producer of clean energy & employs nearly a quarter-million Texans. ;)

Yeah, for all the scare propaganda of the right about the ACA, I never once heard of any 'death panels' being formed and nobody threw any grandmothers off any cliffs.

As usual, the right plays the naysayer for any creative program the Democrats initiate that helps society. Usually with purely emotional BS. Nothing substantive from the right. Just a bunch of poorly informed rumors and nonsense that doesn't amount to a hill of beans. Best to not listen to what the right has to say about any Democratic initiative. Sadly. It would be nice to hear honest input but that is rarely seen from the right. Their usual objective is to obfuscate.
Basically the right is shilling for the fossil fuel industry, who feathers their nests. ;)

To be fair there's a sprinkling of D's among them, but it's overwhelmingly R's getting their bribes, 17-3 in the top twenty.

Well the right should know about being indoctrinated by fear. If the government says boo they jump out of their skin.

Ask any Trump fan if the government is out to get people and they would probably agree. Very afraid of the government.

But fear can also be a good thing. If the thing being feared is valid and steps can be taken to reduce the threat.

That is the case with climate change.

Right wing culture fears anything it doesn’t understand or doesn’t conform to a set of parochial views and prejudices.

This has given rise to armies of Elmer Gantry types, Father Couglin, Joe McCarthy, the John Birch Society, the tea party, various right wing hate groups, and Donald Trump.

Was the New Deal unconstitutional?

The conservatives went to the Supreme Court with that question.

The Supreme Court found that it was. Which required the Roosevelt Administration to Re authorize the New Deal with new legislation designed to address the issues the Supreme Court raised.

Ironically, the Chief Justice at the time was Charles Evans Hughes, the former New York Governor who had been a poster child for the Progressive Movement.

ESG scores.

In 2022, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) released a final rule addressing when fiduciaries may consider ESG factors in accordance with their fiduciary duties under the Employment Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA). Under ERISA, retirement plan fiduciaries have a duty to act solely in the interest of plan participants and beneficiaries. The new rule clarifies that fiduciaries may consider ESG factors such as climate change and may select from competing investments based on collateral economic or social benefits. In late-January, 25 states filed a lawsuit in federal court seeking an injunction against the new rules.

Even before the release of the DOL final rule, several states proposed laws prohibiting the use so-called “non-pecuniary factors” in making investment decisions for state pensions and other funds. Earlier in 2022, the American Legislative Exchange Council introduced the State Government Employee Retirement Protection Act, model legislation that closely mirrors fiduciary duty bills later introduced in several states.

did you miss the part where it says the feds are 33 TRILLION in debt? ( and counting)
A diehard capitalist entrepreneur will tell you that you can't make money without investing it. The principle, however, is the same for government projects. If you don't spend money on certain types of programs, you can't get a return.

Some of the debt is related to paying for things that Trump and the GOP already did. The rest includes all the emergency COVID adaptation and things some Republicans as well as Democrats approved.

We wouldn't be in this much debt if we developed a wealth tax. Washington state offers a great example.

Yeah, can't have the administration doing things that would make people want to vote for them.
For 20,000 brown shirters at $15.00 and hour is $300,000.00 every hour times 40 hours 2.4 MILLION a day and 96 million every week. At 50 weeks that is roughly 5 billion a year.

Wait, is that a "living wage"?

Thoughts?

Will do! ;)
Okay? What's your point? You asked for falsification, and I gave you falsification.

Let's try another. Evolution.

Evolution would be falsified if we found human fossils in the same strata as trilobites.

The cult of climate alarmism just keeps growing and growing, along with federal spending on this nonsense.

Not the job of the federal government to "create" jobs.

The de-growth movement continues unabated.
It doesn't matter how one views the issues around climate. We all know pollution--air, soil, water-- is bad in the present. I see it as comparable to TVA and other major projects. Of course the federal government is held responsible for job availability for Americans. There are nearly infinite ways government encourages or discourages work growth in America. It's a great idea.

A 320 hour workweek seems excessive.

Amazing news! This kind of climate policy is what we have been SORELY lacking. It doubles as a federal jobs program as well as potentially giving low income/educated citizens job training and experience. The only criticism of this policy I have is that it should be MUCH bigger, but you take the wins you can.

We dont need a federal jobs programs. We have near zero unemployment, and over 10 million job openings. We have 50 million people on various forms of welfare. Make them do these jobs. Win win.

We could take the excess FBI, CIA, and IRS agents and have them do it.

Trouble with that is they would raid the homes of two-parent Catholic families with guns drawn if they see fireplace or BBQ smoke on the guise that violent terrorists are intentionally spewing too much carbon into the air.

I know you have no problem with other people paying taxes. Where do we get these billions for 20,000 workers, who I am sure will be all DEI hires?

We have interacted a few times by now. Honestly, I don't think it is worth addressing you any more. You don't bring anything of value to a discussion.

Take it easy.

Doomsday leftwing cult nonsense.

In order to indoctrinate people, rule number one, and above all is to instill FEAR into them.

If and when that doesn't work, you then make them feel guilty. Original sin, CRT, DEI, and sacrifices are needed to receive absolution for the sins of our fathers.

You deniers always fail to explain what role you believe Republican politicians play in the "cult" and / or "concpiracy" you believe exist.

That the climate research programs have been ongoing for many decades and the report you call "doomsday leftwing cult nonsense" was published by thirteen federal agencies during Trump's presidency.

So that Republican politicians could have easily exposed the "cult" and / or "concpiracy" you believe exist. Instead the report I linked to was published because the evidence for reducing C02 emissions is so overwhelming that Trump and Republicans in Congress couldn't stop the report.

I was thinking the same thing. Buh BYE now.

If it was that easy to expose cults, Christianity and Islam would not have BILLIONS of followers.

The leftwing has adopted every single one of their tactics of indoctrination and propaganda with the very top of the list being:

In order to get and keep converts, you MUST make them FEAR something.

Okay? What's your point? You asked for falsification, and I gave you falsification.
My point is that based on that chart, there were many decades where temperatures DECREASED, while at the same time CO2 was INCREASING.

How do you square that circle?

Yep.

Cambrian explosion cannot logically be explained either.

Pollution and the theory of AGW are different issues.
