Of course, it's all about politics. Hell, Jill will probably put a stocking for the little girl up on the WH mantle this Christmas...something she hasn't done the past two years.Biden finally speaks out on granddaughter he refused to acknowledge for years
President Biden has acknowledged his granddaughter, Navy Joan Roberts, for the first time after refusing to do so for over four years.www.foxnews.com
Biden and First Lady Jill Biden had repeatedly refused to acknowledge Navy, frequently omitting her by claiming they only have "four granddaughters."
"Our son Hunter and Navy’s mother, Lunden, are working together to foster a relationship that is in the best interests of their daughter, preserving her privacy as much as possible going forward," Biden said in a statement to Fox News Digital.
"This is not a political issue, it’s a family matter," he added. "Jill and I only want what is best for all of our grandchildren, including Navy."

Better late than never. Glad they had a change of heart. For someone that portrays himself as a steadfast family man, the failure to recognize his granddaughter for years really struck me as odd. Perhaps politics were more important (contrary to what he claimed above).
I've noticed a lot of left-wing columnists hammering him on this lately. Might have finally made him act.Of course, it's all about politics. Hell, Jill will probably put a stocking for the little girl up on the WH mantle this Christmas...something she hasn't done the past two years.
Yes.Are you sure it wasn't at the girl's mother's request?
Focus group tested, I'm sure. Biden's handlers are getting worried.I've noticed a lot of left-wing columnists hammering him on this lately. Might have finally made him act.
In August 2018, Hunter fathered a daughter, Navy Joan Roberts, with an Arkansas woman named Lunden Roberts. The following year, Lunden sued Hunter for paternity and child support, although at the time, he publicly denied the claims. DNA testing later confirmed Hunter as the father.
The legal dispute between Lunden and Hunter worked its way through Arkansas courts for more than four years and led to a settlement in June 2023, the terms of which were not made public.
As the legal proceedings made headlines, Republicans criticized President Biden for previously touting his "six grandchildren," claiming he wasn't acknowledging Navy.
In a July 2023 statement provided exclusively to PEOPLE, President Biden pushed back at the criticism, saying, “Our son Hunter and Navy’s mother, Lunden, are working together to foster a relationship that is in the best interests of their daughter, preserving her privacy as much as possible going forward. This is not a political issue, it’s a family matter. Jill and I only want what is best for all of our grandchildren, including Navy.”

This hasn't been a "private matter" for years.Another misleading article. They were just keeping private - and irrelevant - matters from the public eye
You think it was accidental??'Refusing' is a deliberate act and I'd like to see actusl public statements to that effect.

Yes, of course.Clearly intentional but that does not amount to 'refusal'. Did anyone challenge them and say 'How many granddaughters have you got? What are their names? What about Hunter's love child?" only to be rebuked, denied, or lied to? That would be a "refusal".
"There was a story in The New York Times over the weekend about Hunter Biden's daughter in Arkansas. Does the president acknowledge this little girl as his granddaughter?" the reporter asked.
"I don't have anything to share from here," Jean-Pierre simply responded, continuing the White House's tradition of refusing to answer questions pertaining to Roberts.
Of course they don't have to. But it's made them look bad. You're making a mountain out of a molehill here. The Bidens have chosen this moment to publicly give an update on the family situation (they didn't have to) and frankly that should be enough. They don't have to do it on your timetable - whatever TF that is.
Yes, of course.
WATCH: White House shuts down question about unacknowledged Biden granddaughter
The White House shut down a press question pertaining to the estranged daughter of Hunter Biden, who the Biden family has repeatedly refused to acknowledge.www.yahoo.com
That's a refusal to acknowledge.
Yes, she was asked to acknowledge the baby and refused. That was a "no comment" from the press secretary.
Please. You're better than that. It's quite possible she'd never discussed it with the president.
This is total BS, as is the whole subject. Biden is old, and in his generation, lots of things were private and family matters, even in politics. Presidents routinely had mistresses, and everyone politely pretended they didn't exist, because it was very bad manners to stick your nose where it didn't belong. That's why Roe v Wade made excellent sense in 1973, to a generation of people who thought things family, sexual, etc., were private.Yes, she was asked to acknowledge the baby and refused.

Should we similarly excuse him if he asks a black person to use a different drinking fountain, because that was acceptable to some people in 1955?This is total BS, as is the whole subject. When Reagan got elected, people made a big thing out of excusing his divorce, which to conservatives was scandalous and they had to get over it to vote for him. The threat of impeachment for Nixon wasn't anything to do with sex or private matters. The GOP, which rapidly made everyone's sex and family life every busybodies' issue went berserk over Clinton and the fact that Hillary didn't divorce him.
That's how they ended up with Trump, a guy who cheated on both former wives and then divorced them in turn to marry the next one.
When Biden was young, a guy may have had a mistress and kid on the side, but it wasn't anyone's business.
Yes, she was asked if her boss would acknowledge the baby and refused to discuss it at all.
