He didn't say abortion-as-birth control. He said an agreement denying aid to organizations that help with pregnancy prevention and, yes, abortion, is ridiculous.
As always, a Trumpist lies about a target on "the left" for cheap political points and to virtue-signal dishonesty to his fellow Trumpists. It's "just joking" when Trump says something awful. And if someone on the left says something, well, it's perfectly fine to lie about it.
