It's just realistic to not see him winning, but I respect his tenacity.
Do you honestly think he could win the nomination?
Hell I'm on the Bernie bandwagon and I am Canadian! The points he brings up are no-brainers to me. I just learned a few months ago that the US does not have a national parental leave time law and I couldn't believe it. Here in Canada, we get one year.

Sorry to burst your bubble...
If Bernie Sanders Runs For President, It Won’t Be as an Independent: “I will not be a spoiler”
To the dismay some idealists, Sanders rejected the idea of running for president as an independent. “No matter what I do, I will not be a spoiler,” Sanders said. “I will not play that role in helping to elect some right-wing Republican as President of the United States.”
:raises eyebrow: huh? What part of then the relative effects are reduced to the extent that men take full advantage of that 12 weeks at the same rate as women flew past you?
I agree the effects are reduced. But Employers make rational decisions. In countries with maternity leave, we see them doing so. They will continue to do so. See that earlier bit about employers in Britain? They have parental leave for both genders there, too. And the effect is problematic for women.
As I said, I'm on the fence on this - I agree with Sanders it's a "pro family" policy. It's also a "pro-baby" policy, and I'm one of those weirdo's who thinks that, if we are going to depend on future generations to support us, we should remember to have them. I am unsure if it's a "pro family earning a good income" policy, and I think it has unfair unintended consequences. Namely:
Pew Research and the OECD comes to the same conclusion that cpwill does:
Bernie Sanders is not a dope. The scenario I see playing out is this:
Bernie gets a substantial turn out in the primaries but still falls a bit short of Hilary who gets the party nomination.
Bernie then assumes that he can do on a national level what he did in Vermont based on his surprising appeal in the primaries. Sanders decides to run as an Independent in the general election just as he does in Vermont, effectively Ross Perot-ing Hilary's presidential bid.
Here... have another:
Bernie Sanders Takes It to Wall Street With Financial Transactions Tax
Last week, Bernie Sanders, the Senator from Vermont and only announced challenger to Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination, took a strong stand for everyday people. He proposed a financial transactions tax (FTT), effectively a Wall Street sales tax, and to use the revenue to make public colleges tuition free.
Yep I may go caucus with dems this year just to support Bernie. This will warm your heart a touch if you didn't see this:
This shocked even the Bernie camp in that they didn't have any reps there working the crowd.

From the Article:
Ever hear the saying about correlation not necessarily being causation? It is a pretty important concept.
Except he wants to be the first nominee of the Democratic Party who is not, has not been, and never will be, a Democrat.
He's always been a democrat. He just calls himself something else. He's always been understood as a democrat, always caucused with the democrats, his committee assignments have always counted against democrats, he's a democrat.
Except he wants to be the first nominee of the Democratic Party who is not, has not been, and never will be, a Democrat.
You may want him to be, but he is not. I can't find another prominent politician that didn't at least start out as a member of one of the parties. Bernie never has been a Democrat in any office he ran for or held. He uses the Democratic party as a tool but does not want to be part of them any more than he has to.
If he voted with the other party once in a while, I'd be comfortable saying he isn't a Democrat. He is. He's actually a Democrat on socialist steroids.
 okedokeSure.
Since he's so independent, what issues does he vote with the Republican party on?
There are two kinds of people in the world, those who divide things into two groups, and those who don't.
His voting doesn't determine party membership. He voted against the nomination of John Brennan as Director of CIA when most of the Democratic Party supported it. If I had to classify him, I'd say he was a Socialistic Libertarian.
There are two kinds of people in the world, those who divide things into two groups, and those who don't. Again, voting doesn't determine party membership, joining a party determines party membership. Bernie has never joined.
Face it, he knows he can't win as an Independent and he may cherry pick the benefits he wants to take from the Democratic party. If he were to caucus with the Congressional Black Caucus, that wouldn't make him Black.
"Socialistic libertarian"? You're kidding, right? Is that like dry water? :roll:His voting doesn't determine party membership. Odd that he is polling so low amongst democrats as compared to Hillary Clinton. Those Hillary fans must love her platform far more than they love Bernie's.
