Being Black Cost Obama 4 Points

That is ridiculous. Obama's an incredible campaigner and even bigots admit that. Obama won despite his race, there is no doubt in my mind,

point being...a white man with Obama's credentials would have never been put foward by the left.

It's like how people who have no interest in basketball know who Micheal Jordan is and explains why, even long after retirement, he remains one of the most widely recognized Americans in the world

but...but...but...ernest borgnine has been in way more movies than michael jordan. :lamo

why would you quote movie credits, when his acting was just a byproduct of being a sports icon? This is like citing Mike Tyson's acting credits to prove that he's less famous than Frank Vincent
Tyson was known for his troubles with ex wife Robin Whatever. Most non-boxing fans saw it all played out in the tabloids. Do you honestly think housewives in Topeka have a clue that Tyson was heavy World Champion who knocked his opponents out in round one?

No, I am pointing out that he was a famous sports icon who's fame transcended traditional boundaries of celebrity, and so was even well known outside of sports.
He played for Buffalo. Half the damn country does not even know where the hell Buffalo is. I bet 25% think it's out in the Dakotas somewhere.

I think that once OJ made commercials his popularity soared. I also suspect taht if Jordan killed his black first wife nobody would have paid it much attention. But, if Tiger Woods had run that SUV over that cute little blond woman he was married to instead of her hitting him over the head with a golf club, you would never have heard the end of it.

why they remember him is irrelevent...the fact is...those housewives in Topeka know who Mike Tyson is.

now you're just getting pathetic. If Michael Jordan killed ANYONE, it would be front page news for months.

Tyson was also widely known outside of Boxing circles well before that.

The reason it played out in the tabloids was because of his fame and notoriety outside of the ring

I'm arguing they were celebrity figures who's fame transcended interest in their immediate endeavors, like boxing and football. So pointing out that their name recognition existed outside of "interest in their immediate endeavors, like boxing and football" doesn't actually undermine it

When his dad was killed, it wasn't even in the news more than a week. So, I think you are wrong.

he doesn't even realize that he is actually undermining his own arguement with that post. :laughat:

did he kill his dad? no, so your comment is irrelevent

New study finds that Obama most certainly did not gain advantage by being black. Thus, throwing cold water on the silly Conservative meme that Obama is an "Affirmative Action President", who was elected because he was Black. In fact, being Black cost Obama at least four-percentage points in the popular vote.

I really do not believe it. If being black cost Obama 4 percentage points in 2008 and 2012 I would assume it cost him in the white vote. But the stats failed to show this

2000 Gore received 42% of the white vote
2004 Kerry received 41% of the white vote
2008 Obama received 43% of the white vote, doing better than either Gore or Kerry.
2012 Obama received 39% of the white vote.

In fact Obama's showing of only 39% in 2012 was better than McGovern in 1972 who received 32% of the white vote, better than Carter in 1980 which he received only 36% and better than Mondale who received 35% in 1980 and Obama's 39% matched Clinton's 39% in 1992.

The numbers are not there, being black helped him among blacks where Obama received approximately 95% of their vote which 88-90% if the norm. I just do not see it.

I don't remember it that way.

of course you don't. the point is..had MJ committed a murder, it wouldn't have mattered who the victim was, it would have been front page news for months.

He retired in what...1998 of so? So, if he killed someone now, say one of the Bobcat's many failed general managers, you really think he'd get that kind of ink.

lol, yes. It would be international news for months.

I find the study's conclusion to be pretty hard to believe. The President's race might have hurt him amongst a small minority of racist white voters, but it basically made him a shoe-in for most minority demographics.

I highly doubt that the loss of the former in any way outweighed the gain of the latter as far as the DNC's electoral chances were concerned.

I am certain that he lost many traditionally Democratic voters here in Ohio. But, he still won the state.
